Description This beautiful coyote was roaming along the road with its mate. Notice the grass in its mouth which probably witness that it caught a rodent not long ago.

They showed no fear of cars at all, as it is usual in the National Parks of North America, a phenomenon even more evident in the west part.

Here, the problem is not to take pictures of wild animals, it is to avoid the army of humans stopping behind you and immediately getting out of their car to take pictures with their tiny kodaks instead of remaining in their car to observe a part of their everyday way of life.

In summertime, you have usually no more than 2 minutes before the animal runs out of your field. I have seen tourists running at a bear also ... which got scared right away and vanished into the forest.

No blame here, but that shows the level of deconnexion we have with our natural environnement.

Awesome shot! Lovely sight. In Yellowstone last summer, a coyote passed right by our car, trotting on the side of the road. An amazing experience!

Great Coyote Shot!

I noticed the same behavior you described of both the Coyotes and people while travelling through Yellowstone National Park this past September.

I am a firm believer that silent observation and keeping a low profile will always yield a better chance of witnessing some great wildlife activity which can lead to incredible wildlife images and memories.

I had a favorite spot in Hayden Valley where I would sit for hours on a steeply sloped embankment looking down on a valley where the Yellowstone River ran through near a forrest treeline. I was able to capture many good wildlife images here, but only by patiently and quietly waiting and of course I was using a 500mm zoom lense.

Many people driving through the park would stop and ask what I was looking at...when I would say I was just waiting for something to pass through, they would get impatient and hop back in their cars to drive further down the road...a few minutes would pass and some Bison, Elk or a Grizzly or Coyote would pass through and I could watch and shoot their activities without distressing the animal or risking my personal safety.

Yes, I agree with all your comments.

Sorry to answer so lately !

I might plan to go to Yellowstone that spring, but I do not know when and I do not know what are the conditions : like if there is some parts of the park which are closed, or the snow conditions and many other things that I have to check.

After many unfortunate tests a bit everywhere in Canada, I have never succeed to meet the wolf, which I have been surrounded with a pack once in Manitoba, heard many times closed, but never seen.

One next day I guess !

A few days ago, I was at Kenneth Hahn Park in Los Angeles, California, and a wild skunk ran out in front of me. It was running away, so I didn't take a picture. but some photo nut ran after it, and you can guess what happened next.

People forget wildlife is wild. ^_^

I think is show a level of stupidness. Who in there right or wrong mind would chase a bear. That is being stupid.

Very nice shot you got. I love seeing animal in the wild.

Very beautiful picture! It's so cute how he has grass hanging out of his mouth!

I know what you mean about people bombarding animals to get a shot. I have watched tourists walk up to wild bears and moose before. How dumb can you get?
