Edit: The picture's dimensions is 1440 px. X. 900 px. In case you think that's to small. Then I would be very happy to hear what kind of dimensions there would be proper for the rest of my works, in the future.

I like the colours and how you have it emerging out of the mountains. It looks great, only other thing is the quality, I know this is an old piece but yeah. Keep the work up.

Cool, I will certainly keep up the work.

Yeah it is a bit old, but since I'm working on a newer version of this one, all kind of feedback is still useful.

You did a wonderful job of blending the Monolith into the mountain. I also love how you can still see part of the mountain and the sky in the reflection of the structure. Beautiful job!

I don't know the story behind it, but to me it seems to look more like it is floating above the mountain than actually dig into it.

Robin-Huzell In reply to Graphica [2010-06-30 15:24:05 +0000 UTC]

Well, it is suppose to float above the other mountains. But there is a lot of things in this picture I would change, if I had to make it again. ^^

I was STUNNED when I saw it first... The multitude of blue colors make it look rather ethereal and the blackness at the bottom, leaves place for every viewer's imagination... It's like an enigma... One of the Unexplainable

To be honest I don't really know either. But as far I have experienced is you have to talk with some kind of "admin-artist" here in dA. (Btw. if you find out, please do tell me. ^^ Because then I can send some others artwork as an DD request myself)

I second what said.

What puzzles me a little is about the base of the monolith. I would've expected to see the base a little more. How I imagine this scene is like there is kind of a black hole from which the monolith appears into the mountain scape. I let my imagination go here. OTOH the starfield inside the monolith is an, excellent concept, I love it. Great picture anyway .

Robin-Huzell In reply to JAMsEye [2010-04-10 14:58:11 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. And yes you are quite right about the base, I should have done something more on it. Maybe i'll do some day. ^-^

This really caught my attention. It made me think of a time in my life (that would mean absolutely nothing to you). I was at astronomy camp, so I love the stars and mountain and it captures the mood of my entire experience. I know, you don't care, but I'm just saying.

For some constructive criticism, I think the warm parts could be a little warmer and maybe make the pyramid look a little less like it's floating there and just a little bit more a part of the mountain. Other than that, it's perfect and I love it, all past experiences aside.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Robin-Huzell In reply to rising-phenomenon [2010-04-18 13:59:30 +0000 UTC]

Sorry for the very, very late respond.
Anyway. Always cool to see that something you have you have used your time on. Make people think back to a particular time of their life.
Then you write something about warm colours; That I should make them more warmer. What colours are you specific thinking about? Since it is a some what, a very "cold" picture.

rising-phenomenon In reply to Robin-Huzell [2010-04-18 14:45:32 +0000 UTC]

Well, the mountains in some parts have somewhat of a peach colored tinge. Maybe increase the saturation or vibrance just a little. I would try it and see how it looks. It could look better or worse, I don't know.

A monolith is a massive large monument/stone/rock. Witch there usually only exist a few of them or less. hoped it helped

The monolith looks stunning, to put it simply. The texture is wonderful, and you've made a very impressive composition. The size of the mountains and the dimensions work really well together, in my opinion. My only suggestions are about blending the mountains and the monolith better. Firstly, the right edge of the monolith actually comes down in front of the mountain. This looks a little strange because I envisioned it straddling the mountain range, maybe. I'm not sure, but it makes the monolith look edited. The other thing is that you should deepen the shadows of the mountains. The mountains on the right look overexposed, and I think darker shadows would help them blend better.

As for the contest, just go for it! You'll miss every shot you never take.

Thanks you so much for the feedback. The advise about how to bland the monolith into the mountains is really helpful. Thanks
