Chosen from above all others by the immortal Olympian Gods, young Billy Batson seems to be your average American kid, but in time of need, Billy has been granted the power by the gods to summon awesome forces by the utterance of a single word..."SHAZAM!!!!" A word which in a flash transforms him into the mightiest of modern Greek heroes: Captain Marvel!!!Yes, I know he is now called Shazam, but when I was growing up, he was called Captain Marvel. Anyway, since Captain Marvel's powers were heavilly steeped in Greek Mythology, I decided to give him the look of a Greek warrior, hence the sword, shield, and why his outfit takes on the form of Ancient Greek armor. I also gave him a long haired look, since in Greco-Roman times, that was a symbol of power and might. Also, I went to go with a hoodless look for Captain Marvel, because that was a thing before the New 52. This itteration of Captain Marvel is also a founding member of the Justice League and a good friend of the Teen Titan, Cyborg. His weapons and armor are made of adamantine, and were forged for him by the god, Hephaestus.

I can understand you not wanting Cap to look too much like Superman and while this is creative for your stories it's real hard to not prefer something you're used to

Who said anything about not wanting Cap to look too much like Superman? I just drew Captain Marvel this way so as to reflect where his powers came from. And plus, this is Greek Mythology we're talking about, and when there's characters like Ocean Master, Aquaman, Wonder Woman or Captain Marvel, who have Greek Mythological references, I go all out! Hence, why I chose the classic Ancient Greek warrior look for Captain Marvel.

Really like the redesign, gives him something different from Superman.
A lot of your guys have swords though I've noticed. Any particular reason?

Thanks!! I only give them swords if they've got some relation to a character who uses a sword as one of their weapons. Jericho has one because he's Deathstroke's son, Green Arrow and Speedy have them for that Medieval archer look. Troia has one because she's Wonder Woman's little sister, and so on.
