Not at all, really. I gave a better look at your gallery and searched your blog, I saw some amazing stuff here! This recent post with all sort of portraits was real good.

This really makes me laugh to see this wonderful creation. Also based on this sculpture and my roommate's drawings I'm fairly certain you two would get along.

Wow, that's really tall for such spindly legs. Is there some sort of armature or reinforcement?

Yeah! Sculpey is an oven-bake polymer clay, it's pretty good business if you're willing to build the proper support for it
and thanks for the liking words!

That design is fantastic. Sculpey has bested me many times over so I am always in awe when I see stuff like this. Great job.

if it's any consolation, this guy has welded steel in him, bolted down to that board he's on.
He's mark II. Mark I was built out of rebar wire, and after a tremendous number of hours of work, wouldn't stand up in the oven and had to be scrapped :/

Oh wow welded steel? Damn. Very nice. How do you get such smooth straight lines?
Don't you hate when you have to scrap work after spending so much time on it? It's how you learn obviously, but that doesn't make it an easy pill to swallow.

It really depends. I like to do as much of it with my hand and tools as possible. A nicely shaped tool and a steady hand (you can roll something like the one in the center here [link] ), or if the surface allows using the palm of my hand or my finger to kind of buff/burnish the surface. X-acto knives are also pretty excellent, either to cut in sharp shapes or to smooth with the edge of the blade (if your hand is up to it). Also very fond of certain etching tools.
That said, a lot of people like to brush on solvent or mineral spirits to smooth it out at the end.
Yeah, throwing that thing out was rough. oof yeah.
