YEP Painter is definately best for making stuff from scratch. Looks good anyway.

I cant wait to take that class!! Im so jelous. Ya when I messed with painter I didnt like it as much..probably because I wasnt used to the interface. I think it helps to take a piece into photoshop(basics) and then into painter for some cool texture effects or blending effects.
I like your poses...is there a story behind this piece? Is that her alien baby?..lol

Yeah the interface is quite a bit easier to get over when you have someone explain how it works. And it only took like, half an hour. This piece was just kind of one of those randomly generated images for fun, but you'll see how I'm going to be using it soon enough... Bwahaha!

For some reason I thougt I should try that one comic-coloring technique where they paint via tight selections. So far my pen-tool technique is way faster than that, and the parts where I just stopped making selections and just dabbled a bit look better to me. I just wanted to get used to the interface first before accomplishing something almighty and daring. I love how you can spin the canvas!

Well, it depends on what kind of look your going for. Painter can replicate any natural medium, while Photoshop will give a more mechanical look. This guy has a bunch of really good Painter examples :basakward:
A lot of comic books are colored via Photoshop and there are many visual effects it can aide with that you don't need to paint out, and you can probably force Photoshop brushes to do simular things to Painter's brushes. In my opinion, it's really a personal preference on what kind of program interface and/ or final out look you want.
From the look of things, I may end up liking both- Photoshop for its speed and Painter for its fine art qualities. Yeah, so just find a free demo or something and try compare 'em for yourself.
