Description Here have some writing practice with Tatsu + some edgy backstory stuff.

----------------------
The emptiness of the void was almost suffocating, like dark wings had wrapped around Tatsu and closed her off from the world. She floated idly in the darkness, watching for some sign of life. But the only thing in this hellish purgatory was the soft blueish glow of flames in the distance, keeping her trapped in the nightmare. She had lost track of time, but was sure it had been only a fraction of her time trapped there.

She circled in place, tail angrily twitching. She didn't deserve to be trapped here, she hadn't been the murderer. Innocent until proven guilty! she thought furiously to herself, tail lashing. There was a sudden motion in the wall of flames trapping her in purgatory, and a tall figure walked towards her, across a ground that seemed to form underneath him.

She quickly dashed over, floating near his head and circling him.
"Mortimer!" she cheered, "You've got to get me out of here I'm nearly dying of boredom and I'm so lonely!"

Mortimer, or as Tatsu liked to call him, Bird Man, was one of the two most powerful gods, the god of death. Along with Vita, goddess of life, they ruled basically everything, with all the minor deities like Tatsu serving on a council of sorts to keep everything in order.

"You can't. The council believes you to be the reason Raimo is dead, and the reason the monsters he was previously guarding are now terrorizing all known realms of the universe," Mort explained.
"But I can't stay here! I'm already going crazy please don't leave me here alone!" Tatsu said, floating around Mortimer.
"That's why I'm here," Mortimer said, "The others on the council didn't want me to come here, they said to leave you to rot away. But I know you weren't the murderer and I need your help."

"MY help?" Tatsu said in a high-pitched squeak, "I need YOUR help getting out of here! Or at least making it more... like home."
"I can help with the second thing," Mortimer offered, flicking his wing forward. A small floating island sprouted in the middle of the void, with soft green grass and even a sparkling lake. Out of the ground grew a towering castle, red flags with Tatsu's symbol, a red circle with three golden diamonds crowning the top, waving at the spires.

"Woa..." Tatsu breathed, landing on the soft ground, "You didn't have to do this for me... how did you do this?"
She laid down on the grassy floor, poking a small flower bud.

"I had help," Mortimer admitted, "But that's not the point. Will you help me now?"

"Yes!" Tatsu cheered, springing back up to her feet, "What do you need?" her claws went aglow with the black and red spirals of her magic.

"Nothing magical, I just need you to watch this for me," Mortimer held out what he had been holding, something small wrapped in blankets. Tatsu eagerly took it, before realizing what it was.

"What the! Why are you stealing babies?" Tatsu asked in an accusatory tone, before giggling and saying, "No but seriously, where did you get it? It looks human."

"She's my daughter, Tatsu," Mortimer said, "Not an object. Tatsu, this is Io. I want you to look after her, as here in purgatory is the only place safe from those monsters that are attacking everyone.

"W...why are you trusting me with a child," Tatsu was staring into the tiny Io's eyes, trying to read them for emotion, "I don't think I can keep this thing alive."

"Sure you can," Mortimer said, looking around shiftily "Plus, she's a necromancer which means once she's older, you'll be able to travel in between realms."

"Oh..." Tatsu said in realization, "You're... on my side?"

"Of course. I like you Tatsu, and I know that what happened wasn't your fault. All you have to do for me is not let a hair on Io's head get hurt. Got that? That means you'll have to keep her a secret when you get checked up by the others."

Tatsu nodded vigorously, "I won't let you down!"

"I knew you wouldn't," Mortimer said with a nod, "I'll be back soon to check up on Io. Good bye Tatsu."
He walked back into the flames, calm as ever, leaving Tatsu wondering what in the world she was supposed to do with a tiny child.
