Hi Jurgen, I'll start the new pic this week, I'm going to base it on the Future Retro city but chnage the sky scrapers and do render from a different angle.

Jurgen been reading your urbis pages, I did the gerneal layout last night of a new pic, one Q ?
Is there any form of transportation ? I have read through quite a bit and haven't seen anything mentioned.

(I got to write up that "Transportation" section sometime soon...)
Well, most people move on foot, while richer people use coaches.
There are, however, some railways and trams out there - and they are drawn by stone golems in quadruped form. Probably approximately horse-shaped, but I'll leave the details up to your imagination, as long as it looks appropriately "Victorian"...
(I still haven't come up with a way of how people would deal with the damage next to the rails caused by the feet of the golems. Extra paths periodically filled with gravel? Perhaps the golems have extra-large feet specially designed to minimize surface pressure... Again, the details are up to you.)
Again, I'm looking forward to what you can come up with!

Thanks!
I originally came up with the idea for the big Wizards of the Coast Setting Search in 2002 - they were asking for writers to send in a one-page submission for new fantasy worlds, and received about 11,000 submissions, mine among them. Eventually, they produced Eberron from this (Urbis didn't make it past round one, but I didn't really put enough effort into that submission...), but I thought that the idea was too good to waste. What would a world look like if D&D magic and magic items really were that common?
I also read some comics by Schuiten and Peeters about their "Obscure Cities", and liked them a lot, so I also wanted to come up with a reason why there should be lots of big cities in the world. From this I got the idea for the Nexus Towers, and the rest is, as they say, history. I've been steadily working on it for the last two and a half years, and though I'm not progressing as fast as I would like, I am progressing, and I feel confident that eventually I will be able to publish it. I recently did a new word count, and I realized that I have more than 75,000 words already...
