It made me laugh! I'm always telling my girls to take umbrellas, they refuse and my response is "OK, so get soaked!"

I can almost imagine what the girl on the right is complaining about.
I think it's cute cuz it something that happens to all of us at least once in our lives.

Geez, reminds me so much of the Green Line trains on the Boston T. The older trains -- the ones from the mid 1980's reaching the end of their service life.

That photo there kinda says it all XD hahahah

Fantastic piece, though, man. Lord knows I've had days similar to this myself downtown.

Now that you mention it, it does look like the Boston T. Was it replaced by something better? Or was it cancelled and merged with another train line? Dunno why, but public transportation kinda fascinates me.

Anyway, thanks man!

The trains from the 80's are still in service today on the Boston Green Line. Slowly, though, they're being plucked from service as they deteriorate beyond reasonable repair. In the early-mid 1990's more green line trains were introduced alongside the 80's models. The new trains had features such as true ground-level doorways which allowed wheelchair handicapped people to get on and off. [Tee 80's trains required a hydraulic contraption that lifted the wheelchair into the car. Caused huge delays.] The Green Line has always remained its own separate line from the other 5 in Boston. It was the first subway in America, afterall, so it has some real history behind it.

MBTA
Lots of pictures and stuff to read up on it there [The photo of the Type 7 car are the cars which look like this artwork inside. They're the ones which are approaching the end of their service life. The Type 8 cars are the most recent cars on the line. Truth be told, whenever possible, I try to ride on a Type 7 car. They just feel more comfortable inside.]

"I told you the news said it's going to rain. But no you said that there wasn't a cloud in the sky. I wanted to at least bring a umbrella but agian you said no it would just slow us down. And I had to cover your ticket too because you lost your wallet running to the station!!!"

This is so true to life. There's nothing worse than sitting on the train, on a seat that's squishy wet from your clothes, trying not to shiver in full blast air con.

Reminds me of the day I went to buy some ice-cream... and then the rain burst out. There wasn't a single dry spot on me, I swear.

Beautiful work. I love the puddles of water on the ground. The only thing that bugs me a bit is that one guy to the left. I feel he's either drawn at slightly the wrong angel, or shouldn't be there at all. XD

robotnicc In reply to bigunit193 [2009-03-13 16:52:38 +0000 UTC]

Nope. I based it on Chicago's El. But I guess it could be anything. People have also said it looked like the BART.
