Description
This pot is a bit of a mystery.. A paper sticker on the bottom says: San Juan 72/T J/1. It could be made by a potter from San Juan Pueblo, New Mexico, and the label could suggest it was made in 1972 or bought in 1972, The paint colours and the incisions around design elements roughly fit San Juan work between 1930s and 1970s, except the black which is extremely rare in a polychorme piece (there is plenty of completely black San Juan pottery). So, who knows? The pot has suffered extensive water exposure that has caused exfoliation on the neck and bottom - poor thing. Anyway, I like it a lot
This image is the result of 6 shots combined by focus stacking for increased depth of field, using Lightroom and dedicated stacking software Helicon Focus. Nikkor 2.8/105mm macro lens at f5.6, D850. Jar height is c. 17 cm (7 inches). At these settings, the normal depth of field would be a few mm. Seventh in series of shooting at home while in social distancing - what do you think about this one?
