Description
This was my illustration for a digital painting course (Digital Painting with Syn Studio , highly recommend) I took in order to get better. Best decision in a looong time - I learned so much.
For this particular illustration, I started off with an imaginary brief - I envisioned having to paint a land card for Magic: The Gathering. A blue-white, or blue-green perhaps? Anyways, this was the loose starting point for me, I kept coming back to it every now and then, but I wasn't too obsessed with it. Maybe one day, with a stronger portfolio, I'll apply to paint some cards for real...

In some ways painting this allowed me to reach some milestones I've been trying to achieve for some time. I'm very impatient and I used to get easily discouraged... I think I learned to control this now.
When in doubt, I kept painting, trying to solve the issues I saw, just taking time finally. I'd come back to it for a little while every day, and seeing it with fresh eyes really helps.

Painted in Adobe PS with my Wacom intuos pro tablet, like everything else.
