Description
Ruby and Sapphire from Steven Universe.I sketched out everything in pencil first. Then I scanned them on to the computer, aligned all the images. Printed them out and used my lightbox to draw the clean line art. Scanned the images again and coloured and animated everything in photoshop. It has 33 frames in total.

If you click "all" in the gallery feature, it will put everything in order according to time. April is when I switched to tablet. I think this animation would be my first tablet only one

It would help for you to learn how to do figure drawings either from classes or you can find reference pictures online. (Like this: jessicamcleodyu.com/portfolio/… ). Just look in the stock reference section on dA for plenty of images.
Drawing existing characters, and designing your own is great, but you need some foundations if you want to learn animation. The idea is to learn how to give your characters dimension and make them seem believable. The best advice i've received for life drawing is: "draw what you see". At first your drawings might not look like the thing you're drawing, but with enough practice they'll get better.
