Wow there is some really fantastic stuff on there! I especially love the Rorshach I'm a regular over at Superherohype.com they a fanart contest every month this month it's watchmen you should join up and enter either one of your watchmen pieces. Also your cap movie design is better suited for the avengers movie but it really is quite fantastic. I wonder if you would be interesting in designing something for his first movie which will be set in WWII i could get you background info and maybe we can get it in front of someone doing the movie.

Ok awesome! All right how much do you know about Cap if minimal then read this:

Not all of it just get your barings on where he's been so you know where you as an artist want to take him.

Here is the first sketch ever done of him:

And classic turnaround:

Here is a look at one of the recent comic interpretations of his WWII get up (ultimates WWII costume):

Notice the triangular shield he used that before the round one.

Here are two modern versions:

Ultimates:

He's had a ton of different versions. Bye the way sorry i'm posting links not sure how to post pics here.

I guess for WWII you would have to strike that balance between real soldier and american symbol. He was a secret weapon but he was a well publicized one that the government used to rally troops, boost morale, and increase the military.

What should look natural is that your design looks like it could inspire your current design you know. Are you open to tweaking your avengers version?
