I'm trying to paint one worthwhile thing each month. Here's one for January.

You may remember those old Volbeat WIPs I uploaded a few months ago. I just decided to finish it up. I love how it turned out, even if there's some stuff I messed up. The main thing I worked on wasn't the Volbeat, it was the background. I've never really done a legit background before, so that was fun.

I experimented with lineart, too; I made lavender lineart and set it to Multiply to see how it looked. I liked it!

Of course, the bushes in the background look kind of like brains. I couldn't figure out how to fix it without changing the opacity, which I didn't want to do, or putting an unsaturated layer over both of them, which I am too lazy to do. Then there are the trees, which didn't turn out too bad, despite the lack of effort and detail and knowing what a tree looks like. I needed a reference for a tree. I mean seriously.

Soooo yup. This was fun. My first real worthwhile digital painting in forever.
