Description
A forensic scientist for the Central City Police Department, Barry Allen was sent to investigate a strange, makeshift laboratory found in what was thought to be an abandoned lot. Due to his unfortunate (or fortunate) timing, lightning struck some of the lab's equipment and activated an unkown device, which blasted Barry with energy.

When he awoke, the device had been damaged beyond recognition, but it had caused an immediately noticeable effect: Barry could now control the flow of time relative to himself. From his perspective, he was now able to slow time to a crawl around him, but to an onlooker it would appear that Barry was moving at incredible speeds.

Inspired by his idol, Superman, Barry decided to do what he failed to do within the Police Department: Clean up the rampant crime in Central City.

Although his top speed remains unrecorded, Barry avoids approaching the speed of light to limit collateral damage, and for fear of what might happen if he passes it.

I took the most liberties with Flash's backstory, largely because of how basic his original one was. I've mixed some of Wally in with him, too.

I like the interpretation of the Flash that Timm and Dini gave him - He cracks jokes and smiles all the time on the outside, but only to help cope with difficult situations and inner turmoil.
