Greetings, Folks! For the contest of 2018, I'm doing something different. A contestant from last year requested a halloween/horror/ dark art theme and I heavily agreed. I adore dark art and the more creative it is, the better. The story where most of the characters are from is very dark and depressing, so I'd like to have this year's entries reflect on it. So, I settled with the dark art theme. I may also include other characters into the list below over time. You are encouraged to ask questions about them to help guide you in your creative progress.

Plague is a creature that exists solely in nightmares (Sylvanus's specifically), taking different forms based on the dream's setting. I took inspiration for this piece from the track "Them" by Cyro chamber www.youtube.com/watch?v=11vJKd… which sort of molded the whole drawing as I went. The song gave a really eerie sort of abandoned/condemned vibe to me, which is where I pulled the ancient forest cemetery setting from, and I could imagine certain parts of it (especially near the start but mixed throughout) being ragged monstrous breathing. Sort of like Plague is stalking you through it in the night, circling wherever you might be hiding or maybe even just trailing behind you in the open, knowing you won't find your way out.

I wasn't sure if he had the shoulder runes on both front legs or just one, and if I should keep them but I really like the contrast against his silhouette, especially since a lot of him sort of melds into the trees behind him. Initially I was thinking of doing some old Gothic cemetery buildings and gates instead, but I thought the forest gave it a better vibe This was a lot of fun though!
