Red Beans
The relationship between a farmboy and a wolfgirl and the fluff that makes up their life.

We were watching Pacific Rim during my science fiction class and I lowkey fell back into the fandom. Except this time I HAVE RED BEANS TO DRAG DOWN WITH ME AHAHAHAHA!

Anyways, in this AU Jack and Najla are obvious partner pilots. They don't start off together though, Jack used to pilot in a completely difference jaeger with someone else before a kaiju overpowered them and sent his partner out of commission. Najla had similar circumstances but instead she was the one sent out of commission due to her eyesight (her illness still exists in this universe but similar to how being part wolf sped it up, having to temporarily solo pilot sped it up for her I know this probably isn't even a thing in Pacific Rim but you're in my world now fam).

Jack was in need of a new partner and jaeger and Najla needed someone willing to pilot alongside her. Of course this comes with some complications such as the fact Jack's mind isn't the easiest to drift with since his "slayer" persona is still a thing. One of the other reasons Jack's ex-copilot called quits. Najla didn't give very many fucks of course since she really needed a second pair of eyes but the first drift was a bit of a struggle at first. Mainly because she wasn't expecting such a steep drop of sorts but eventually they completed the neural handshake and were ready to take on their first kaiju together.

In battle, Jack is the more confrontational one. He knows what to do when face-to-face with a kaiju and where to strike for maximum damage. Najla has a strange sixth sense where she can tell when it's time to hang back and when they need to make a move.

There is a very high possibility that their jaeger is referred to as Big Bad...very high.

I'm also thinking of making it so Ashe, Pinokuni, and Beast all pilot a jaegar together that has four arms as a sort of shout-out to Pinokuni's puppet master form. It probably breathes fire as well for Ashe's sake and has horns to represent Beast's beast form but that's all for another day.
