Description
A map of territories claimed by the movement striving for a union of the Low Countries/Benelux; Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg also known as Pan-Netherlands (Heel-Nederland). With a colour gradient representing how common the claims are. A union of Flanders-Netherlands(-Brussels) is called Greater Netherlands and shown here in Dark Blue. The pan-netherlandic claims are mostly based on the borders of the Low Countries in the 16th century; the "Seventeen Provinces" etc. while the Greater Netherlandic claims are based on language.
The regions the ideal claims are;
- Nederland (Netherlands) - Largely Dutch-speaking
- Vlaanderen (Flanders) - Largely Dutch-speaking
- Wallonië (Wallonia) - Largely French-speaking
- Brussel (Brussels) - Largely French-speaking
- Oost-Belgie (East-Belgium) - Largely German-speaking
- Luxemburg - Largely Multilingual (German, French, Luxembourgish)
- Franse Nederlanden (French Netherlands) - Largely French-speaking, historically part of the Low Countries region
