Alaska is a great place. I live there and I love it. I got some shots of the Northern lights. But I had a crappy Camera as well. But now I have a semi decent one.

Hey, you only need a tripod. Now I shoot with a professional digital reflex camera, but this picture was taken with a 2MP pocket camera.
PS: I loved Alaska and would die to go back there some day!

I was wondering where this was because I wanted to see if I could regcognize it, and as soon as I read that it was at Chena Hotsprings, I immediately recognized the place. I have some good pictures of me in there during the winter with my hair frozen white because of the steam.
Nice picture by the way; I've lived in Alaska my whole life and never managed to get a picture of the northern lights.

Hey there, I spent a whole season working at Chena Hot Springs, I only had this 2 MP pocket camera but with a little tripod I could get some nice shots, I'm glad you liked it, I loved Alaska and would like to go back some day, but I think it will not be possible... not any time soon.
PS: The hot spings are nice!! I always got my hair frozen and my shorts too.

That is weird, I took it almost 5 years ago with a 2 MP pocket camera, but thanks a lot for your comment!!!!

I hear Chena Hot Springs is the spot to get good Northern Lights shows. I've had a hard time getting any good shots when I have point and shoots on me though. Nice job.

Chena Hot Springs Resort, some 60 miles away from Fairbanks, down Chena Hot Springs road till it dies in the valley.

Thanks! they really are beautiful. The bad thing is that all the pics i took where with this pocket-camera, so my guess is because it is not a very good camera, green was the color that turned out the most. Most of the times, the Northern lights would be green, but i definitively saw red, pink, violet and white some other times, and those colors where REALLY hard to get on the picture. If i have time iΒ΄ll post another picture with other colors rather than green.
Thanks for the comment!
