I'm building the Goldbeard Ceadeus armor, but I have a serious problem... his fur. His... fucking... fur...My situation it's this:
80 G. shards, 41 G. coat, 21 croocked hardhorns, 22 organs, 8 deep gems, 4 dark gems... 1 fur.Β
I hate you, Goldbeard Ceadeus.

Did you try Ultra Lucky Cat and the Golden Rathian Armor? You're guaranteed to get fur after that.

I actually find hardhorns t be hard to get. Seriously, why scales when carving horns? Too bad hunters can't trade anything higher than value 3...

Then keep attacking it then, at some point you'll see that it's fur looks like it been broken off, like theΒ Royal Ludroth, you should see shining bits of light, like cutting off the tail, you should get a few more items then the usual 3 you get after slaying a monster

I broke his fur every time, but at the end of the mission I got (rarely) only one fur.
Last time I got 2 fur, I hope to be more lucky at the next attempt!

The standard reward drop for fur is around 37% (combined) and if you break the beard you get another 67% chance.... Β
You may need to step away from Goldie for a bit then come back later. Β Maybe it is just getting it off Β my mind for a bit but it seems to help me. Β

You forgot to take into account the Desire Sensor built into the game, which instantly reduces your chances of getting an item based on the need of getting that item. Rough studies show that there's an average of a 50% decrease in probability of a drop (that's a 50% total, making the chance of standard reward in this case -13%, and broken beard only 17%). The harder or the stronger the desire, the more this percentage of drop seems to go up, until even Small Monster Bones may take 4-5 carves to obtain from monsters that only drop small monster bones and, say, raw meat or scales, even though the second item normally has a much smaller chance of drop.
Such is the curse of the Monster Hunter...
