Phew, It wasn't so long ago when I worked on this. I was working as a character designer, and animator for the film.

Ive been trying to start a similar project but didnt find a good enough 2d artist or one that had the time.
Now i dont really have the time myself. =/
Really like the style, would fun to do something like it.
You know, you can pretty easy convert a 2d scene into 3d and have a camera moving around (limited though), but minimal 3d work. One of those reason i wanted to do something like it.
Its called "camera projection", I dont think it was used in your vid, right?

I really enjoyed Pure Funk, I liked it on Facebook as well. I really like what it represented in terms of further integration of funk music while acknowledging its influence on hip-hop and the synergy between hip-hop and anime as well!

The helicopter in the beginning(0:26-0:30) needs a little more fluidity, to me it didn't seem fluid enough, but that's just my opinion. Overall, kudos to you and the team. I truly enjoyed the animation. Great job.

Hey there! I viewed the film in which you were in charge of animation for and, I gotta say, the film as a whole was very astounding. Character designs are nice, and the visuals definitely shout "funky!"
The plot was suitable for its runtime, and the music meshing with the initiation of the chase scene makes up for the lack of vocal dialog (I'm positive the lack thereof was intentional).
Also, Congratulations to you and the entire staff of Pure Funk for winning the awards ya'll got. You must feel privileged!
As a last note, continue to do what you love, and do your best!

Another thing, and I know it's a dumb question but, you graduated majoring in animation, right?
If so, what major do you recommend for someone who wishes to be a comic book author in the future? I ask because when I just started my first year in th Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, I was assigned a major in animation when speaking with administration about my future. When I tell other of my future, however, everyone tells me to switch my major to illustration. What should I do?

Yeah, i major in animation
But realistically im a generalist. If your teacher says illustration, then its up to you. Most of us end up being that anyway, unless you do 3D which hire more animators. I personally am going into concept art not animation. My goal is to be an art director
But i dont mind a bit of animation now and then ^^

What does one do under the occupation of concept artist and art director? Do you have to submit ideas and designs and see if they get approved (or require redesigning)? Also, is it a cooperative environment in which ppl are assigned to teams, or competitive in the sense everyone does their best at a concept to get accepted? Is it both?
Sry for these questions. Like I said before, I want to be a comic book author so I want to know and learn from the best and the experienced.

basically, concept art is the preproduction of films, its where you come up with visual ideas for the film, the could be environment or character designing.
an art director works closely to the director to achieve an overall consistency and look for the film. they make the visual judges.

It makes me wonder if the folks in the comic book industry have to go through similar situations when trying to get their work submitted or published.

Yo that was off the hook. Really reminiscent of what Jamie Hewitt was doing with the Gorillaz videos. Excellent stuff. Loved the character designs and layouts. You have some great staged shots as well. Really loved the pan out of the crowd scene to the DJs face.
