Well, he's somewhat hardcore in XY, jumping off buildings and stuff lol. He needs another person like Paul to challenge his ideals and make him angry ect though.

True, there's not really been someone to challenge Ash's very beliefs ever since him. That's why Badass Ash rarely makes an appearance now. I guess they tried something similar with Trip, but that kid was just...horrible.

We need Tobias back. An unscalable wall for Ash to face. Something that really pushes him to get stronger. Ash has so much potential as a Character and its wasted! He'd be ten times as epic as Red, no offense. I mean we get to see a bit of it in Electric tales of Pikachu, some in X and Y, a tiny bit in Sinnoh, rare moments in Unova, and once or twice in Hoenn. Usually against the main villains.

He's still pretty badass, jumping off towers to save Pikachu and taking attacks for his Pokemon without hesitation. They just don't really write villains who challenge or insult his goal, tho Paul was kind of like that.

Good point. Ok it's the villains that need changed. Team Rocket were badass in Black and White which is why i liked that series so much. Seems daft that they went from badass back to twits!

The writers were most likely planning on getting rid of Team Rocket for good after Best Wishes but their Voice Actors didn't enjoy their new roles and the old Team Rocket was so popular that after their "Final Mission" in the Meloetta arc they just returned to their comical selves. I have always liked TR either way but hopefully Team Flare will get serious treatment. Seems so based on Lysandre's roles in the Mega Evolution specials.

I found it difficult for me to adjust to when Team Rocket actually succeeded at doing stuff, since I (like most others) grew up seeing them as a bunch of bumbling buffoons (in a funny, comical way). Seeing XY though, it seems that the writers are actually trying to make Team Rocket both competent in their schemes but also comedic in their failures (and so far, their doing a good job).

Im glad they didnt get rid of them, it wouldnt be the same wihouth Team Rocket. I do love TR and their funny ways but i wish they could be a bit more successful but also funny so theyre not completely out of character. I have yet to catch up on the series since XY started
