Description Perhaps not the best-fitting poem, but beautiful none the less.

I have been one acquainted with the night.
I have walked out in rain --and back in rain.
I have outwalked the furthest city light.

I have looked down the saddest city lane.
I have passed by the watchman on his beat
And dropped my eyes, unwilling to explain.

I have stood still and stopped the sound of feet
When far away an interrupted cry
Came over houses from another street,

But not to call me back or say good-bye;
And further still at an unearthly height
One luminary clock against the sky

Proclaimed the time was neither wrong nor right.
I have been one acquainted with the night.

Really fabulous shot. Unique and grabbing, but quieting at the same time. Lovely capture

We do not blanket our horses as we believe it messes with their natural body temperature regulatory system. If you notice, the snow does not melt on them -- their naturally thick coats insulate them well enough to keep their body heat in and the wet out.

Also, these guys have access to run-in stalls in the barn if they so choose. Obviously they are enjoying their time outside or else they'd be inside.

It's interesting how we as humans give our horses things we think will make them "comfortable" -- blankets, box stalls -- because that's what we would want (clothing, shelter). But when given the choice, horses will show us what is truly best for them. And usually, the closer to the natural model, the better.

ha ha! that sounds about right. I agree. Our horses choose to stand out in the rain more often than not even though they have nice dry stalls. or they'll stand undercover with just their heads out in the rain... or vice versa- head under shed and tail in the rain. They dont seem to mind the elements much.
