This is absolutely GORGEOUS. Then again, so is all of your art. I think you captured the feel of Avatar very well - just look at how the Dromedary glows!!

This image evokes every strong emotion I have for Pandora. I have the art books, the field guides, and I've watched this movie more times than I should likely ever have to and this feels like a perfect fit. I am very impressed.

Saw them on artstation, They suit so well. These could totally walk around in a herd of Sturmbeasts! This reminds me more of aΒ Parasaurolophus or any iguanodon - esque dinos than a dromedary though. Assuming there's a bit of photobashing in this. Do you establish a base silhouette first? or do you just fit bits and pieces together and see what happens.

yes, photobashing, um, well i usually start with an idea or "design notes" like breaking down some of the structure of the original designs like how many limbs they should have, colours, inspirational animals and general feeling of silhouette, but then once i start working i tend to flow a bit in direction if i find something working better than expected, but like for this i had the turtle back in mind and wanting to make a sterdy looking herbivore design, the tail is a snake(just painted over the head turned towards the camera to make it a tailXD) then numerous different photos of coral fish for the head/body/neck, think i took legs from the horses from the movie from a screen cap then reangled them, and might have vborrowed a ref from a dino model too, or a plastic toy i think^^ but in general start with big pieces then gradually make the pieces smaller and smaller and then go over to painting as a workflow^^
