Speed painting ~ 2.5 hoursI'm trying to break away from my normal style, but it looks like I'm still stuck in it.
Anatomy is... what is that?
...but the point was to draw in different shades of grey as opposed to colors. It was an interesting experiment.
This character is more of a hybrid between what my friend Mike wants me to draw for him and what I felt like doing while painting this.
Either way, I hope you like it, even if it's just something random and ehh... has this super unfinished look to it.

I'm kind of like the clothes, so I might use then for one of my characters in this original story I have yet to put on paper. xD

2.5 hours WOW
Black and white works well here, might have gone just a little darker behind him.
Not much, just enough to show distance in the bg.
I don’t know the character so I’m viewing this without the bias of knowing the storyline.

It's funny how you mentioned perhaps making the background a bit darker because I realized it right away that it should've been darker but I didn't want to spend more time on it while looking for a good brush. It's my fault for loading so many. I have a hard time finding the ones I need. I'll have to delete the ones I don't use.
It's not anyone in particular. My friend wanted me to draw his character, with a scarf, a book and a sword, and it ended up like this. He doesn't want a ninja though, and he wants another pose, so I'll have to work hard to make something for him. This was just practice. ^^

You know, that would pretty much be me. On one page, I'd have serious stuff, or like serious drawings/poems, while on the other I'd draw some smexy Yaoi.
...although I've never drawn Yaoi... but there's a first time for everything! >:]

I mean, I imagine it must be really difficult. For you, at least a bit irritating. It takes a lot of knowledge of colors and shadows and all that, but to me it looks like you totally nailed it!

That hair is sexy for some reason. I usually prefer long hair, but I really like this.
No, what I did is that I only used black and different shades of grey, no colours at all. I'm not sure if there's a name for this, but many people paint like this because they can get the values better this way. It was a bit irritating, yes, because I was tempted to pick colours instead of all these shades of grey, but In the end, I was able to do it.

Yeah, I watched a couple of videos on YT and some people first paint the picture in grayscale and then they put the colors on a layer above. I heard it's not exactly recommended when you have to paint multiple characters though. Well, at least for people who aren't ultimate experts.

Yeah, it seems hard to add colours afterwards, but I really suck at getting the values/contrast right, so this is useful exercise.
Quick question:
You wanna wait for a while so I can make a full body drawing of Annie, or shall I do one of these half-body/bust speedpaintings? Right now I'm practicing like this, and I don't want you think that I forgot. I have yours and Khaled's drawings that I have to finish, but with his drawing, I'm having problems with the contrast, hence the practicing now. ^^

Well, it'd be best if you just did a half-body one. You'd save a lot of time and besides, she's a SnK character. She doesn't really have any notable traits except for her face. The rest is basically the uniform which every other character wears, you know.
Don't worry though. I told you to take your time. You're not the one who's still in high school having nothing better to do than sit all day in front of the computer and play Skyrim. XD

Funny enough, I really didn't even have time to do all my homework for the next day or to study everything I had to study. I had horrible teachers. >.>
Now I'm just checking dA while being in a daze because of a damn cold and afterwards I'll probably finish a drawing of Izaya. I even ate, so I'm done for the night!

Luckily we didn't have much homework to do these last few days of school so I got time to both play games and draw some stuff. I'm currently working on a gift for someone and if I have enough time and things run smoothly enough, I might make a video of that painting. I can just hope for the best, hehe.

I usually draw sooo very slow, that I get bored of a painting before I even finish it, but I'm going to force myself to do these speed-painting from now on as often as I can. ^^
I've come to realize that I am horrible at sketching/drawing lines, and that I find it easier to use brush strokes to do fingers, arms, etc. >.>
