Description This evolved from sort of... well, it's definitely got it's own theme.  The color scheme was originally intended to be in line with the old Prussian flag but that's pretty much just black and white.  I spruced it up a bit (perhaps to it's detriment) with the red (from the battle flag) and more blue and gold (inspired by the Pour le Merite medal of the era).

I'm aware of the super long legs and anatomy errors but overall I'm satisfied with how this turned out.  She's really tall and has sort of short arms.

This is the first time in a long while I have completely penciled, inked, erased then fully colored (via prismacolor and copic markers) a drawing in completion.  Usually I just color my pencil drawings but it creates issues with the graphite rubbing off on the markers and creating permanent smudges on lighter colored areas - notably any kind of skin tone.

This little project has strengthened my resolve to finally switch over to a mostly digital medium.  This took forever and I realized a lot of time was spent fully drawing the whole thing in pencil (with a lot of erasing), inking, re-erasing, re-inking (to get cleaner lines with Zig and Copic fine point liner marker/pen things) then coloring it in.  Using marker is labor intensive (I test the colors on scrap paper to make sure I'm layering them correctly) and extremely unforgiving if major errors are made.

That being said I'm still in love with my copics - they've been serving me pretty well for more than a decade and I love working with a traditional, physical media.

What anatomy errors? Dude that's what we love about your style. It's super-stylish. Not to mention the work you put on the uniforms, weapons and other gear makes up for any perceived anatomy mistake.

Also go Prussia! Forever in our hearts. u_u

In art anything goes, mate. Regardless of anatomy, there is no THE WAY to designing and drawing characters. It primarily comes down to the artist's personal style and artistic preferences.

But on the artwork itself, the choice of colours based on the various Prussian flags really makes the amazing detail on the uniform stand out. It is very ornate and decorative to the point that I can't tell if part of the uniform has ornate metal plates on it or if it is highly decorative metallic fabric. The orange-brown hair not only enhances the appearance of the character but also doesn't disrupt the focal point of the whole piece - which is the uniform. I think any other colour on the hair would have taken away the focal point.
