You walk past on your way to work
A man is sitting there, you can't see his hurt
He's hunched over and weary
You've never seen someone like him, they don't exist as
far as you're concerned
He's dirty and stupid
He's lazy and useless
But if you look closer perhaps you'll see the lines on his face reveal who he is:
The wrinkles around his eyes from where he has laughed
A crease between his brow from when he couldn't pay the bills
The scrunching of his nose from the days spent weeping
The lines on his lips from where he has bit them worrying
A small curve above his brow from a bottle
And there you can see it, a small line of hope- just above his nose
Hope that an angel will pass him on their way to work
