OH, this is lovely. Long exposure, I very much suspect! I just LOVE the mixture of white snow and warm lights. Such a conflict, to me. Cold winter snow, but such a warm and inviting glow from the street lights. It's a great feeling.

Utter beauty. It's a lovely architecture and lightning the city has. It's that kind of atmosphere that attracts me greatly in countries of Western Europe. I'd love to visit Stuttgart one day.
When was it taken? It seems that Sun is far from being down the horizon, yet the lights are shining bright in the streets.

Stuttgart has lots of industry and less beautiful architecture (in my eyes) as well, but I really like the old houses in certain parts of the city.

I bet you're only seeing it this way because you got used to it. When I was in Germany, I was astonished by the looks of the cities. I wish I could stay for longer.
I see. How bright are city streets under common street lamps? Can you read a newspaper under one?

I don't think so! I tend to love things more when getting used to them instead of getting tired of them. I just really don't like industry and the concrete houses they used to built in the 70s/80s. But of course, there is a great variety of houses in German cities, I just always prefer the old buildings with high ceilings, wooden floor and stucco decoration.
Street lamps vary a lot as well — we have very dim ones as well as bright ones you could read a newspaper under. In cities it's usually the latter.

How interesting is your sense of getting used to things. I grew up used to thinking that the more you stay with things, the less you appreciate them. Everyday there's something you new to learn.

I think most people are that way, losing sight of the things they have gotten used to. But over the past couple of years, photography has taught me to find beauty in the little things, and it has made me so much more appreciative. Wherever I am, I make sure to take some time to notice the little things, and it makes my daily life so much better and full of love. And so if I notice something I love around me that I see over and over again, it just gives me that feeling of comfort and habituality, which I think can be a beautiful thing. Of course, often it has a lot to do with loss as well. I love the different seasons, especially autumn, and I always get a feeling it is already fading again by the time it has arrived. So I really just try to capture all of it in order to be able to hold onto the memories, which just makes me love this time of the year even more. I don't know if this cleared things up, but it's just how I experience the world.

I see now. I'm at loss of words as I try to name the state you describe, but I do understand what you mean. I manage to capture this state sometimes, as well. It's good for you that you automate it.
