The reason why today you're good and tomorrow you're not is that the smallest things can make life worthwhile, and as soon as they change, the worst thing in your life today might be that you can't sit down with a cup of coffee in the afternoon sun. And that is okay.(train ride texts)

and so my father died tuesday, after my step-mother died the day before. the smallest things are indeed worthwhile-- coffee in the afternoon, the smell of flowers, the movement of a curtain. but too, the biggest things are worthwhile, and life goes on even when you think everything has surely stopped. birds sing, the smallest thing becomes a chorus.

I am so sorry to hear that and that I only saw your comment today. I wish I could hug you right now or do something, but I know that I wouldn't be able to help. Just keep focusing on the little things you mentioned, even the sad ones. Those that help. And it's okay not to be okay, because you have all the reasons to. But I hope that you will be able to get up tomorrow morning and let the world make you smile, even though it hasn't been all too kind to you.
