My uncle once told me that when your hand starts to hurt from drawing it's good to eat things with potassium...I don't know the science behind it though.

I usually use a soft tennis ball to squish and stretch hands

Looks great! The dots and curls fit with your style, so I would say it's a success... The shoe looks good as well.
I remember as a kid I always had trouble with feet, so I would put shoes on a character as a kind of band-aid to not have to draw feet. I got pretty good at shoes. In retrospect, though, I should've forced myself to draw the feet.
Sorry to say, I have no hand-healing remedies. I get that as well. I've always held pens/pencils the wrong way and people would make fun of me for it. The way I hold it is very stable, but it's also very taxing on my fingers.

Hmm it is comforting to know others are experiencing pain with me haha albeit i wish you didnt have to suffer with me, i def. Think its me holding it wrong too, maybe more stretching breaks, warm compresses are also in our future, thank you for your feedback! Maybe their feet were just so gnarly on the inside that you were saving everybody from their odor or appearance? Gahaha

Haha, I don't mind suffering as long as I'm proud of the result! Thinking about it, I've tried holding the pencil the "right" way, but eventually went back, because I remember getting cramps from that way as well. Seems there may be no correct way to hold a pencil, seeing as they're designed by humans, not nature.
That may be true! I didn't draw humanoids much as a kid, so that was one reason why I sucked at feet, I think... while everyone else was drawing anime characters, I was drawing demons and dragons, which didn't necessarily need feet, or at least human feet. I had complete artistic freedom to create a new foot for a creature that doesn't exist!

Yeah, who needs ‘em! They smell and everyone just walks all over them anyway!

Hmm I'm starting to get curious about your hand now, what kind of pain are we talking? I'm sure it's some kind of fatigue yes?
I noticed in your inking vids you put a major squeeze on your pen, is your discomfort like an aching burn specifically within the pinch area of your pen grip? like the pinky and ring finger, how do they feel in comparison to the other three? you may need to try and conscientiously ease up on that kung fu grip of yours, lactic acid buildup is just a natural part of muscle use and I get the feeling you're working your muscles a lot harder than you need to...
Lovely illustration btw, the dirt looks awesome I especially like the ribbed sides of the hole and you've done a great job expressing the different textures of dirt from the feeling of dense packed earth with the technique of high contrast and low particle detail to the loose dark soil within the hole.
All the elements read very well in this one and the shoe is an excellent touch, when I saw you doing the vid for this one on your IG I never assumed this was where the composition was headed (a rare pun intended moment for me).

Honestly it may be overuse and incorrect holding, specifically with those micron pens i have to use them held upright and thats what i use the most, when i use pencils or dip pens its mostly fine, i think you are right maybe having a taped grip thing would help to make it thicker

You were rippin it up with that dip pen, if that feels better on the hand then I would love to see more of your work with one of those for a bit.
Taped grip is an idea, you may as well try what you can think of to alleviate the discomfort, you're no doubt gonna be drawing the rest of your days, well worth the attempts to figure out how to make it comfortable.
