AOT rv chapter 15

Sun pours in from the windows of the infirmary, a gentle breeze moves through the open windows providing the wounded with fresh air.

Gentle blue eyes slowly opens themselves to be blinded by the day's light. Taking a moment to focus the wounded man tries to move his hand to block out the light but his body feels heavy. Using what little strength he can muster he turns his head only to see the blonde top of another from a person slumped over in a chair, her upper body laid on the edge of his medical bed fast asleep.

“La….Lacey…” his throat hurts and he can barely whispers her name.

Immediately the blonde shoots up, sky blue eyes looking down at the man who laid before her.

“You're awake!” she smiles, tears forming in her eyes. “hey there.” she moves to wipe the tears away with her hands but that only causes more to leak through and run down her cheeks.

“what…” he breaths heavily. “what….. happened?”

“Farlan…. Alot happened…” Lacey looks down at her hands, tears still falling.

“I can tell him.” a males voice speaks up and the blonde female lifts her head to see Levi walk up with Marie.

“it's good to have you back with us.” Marie smiles gently at her patient. “i’ll pull the curtain so you three have some privacy.”

“Marie…” Lacey calls out causing the raven haired doctor to stop and look at her. “thank you.”

Marie nods to her friend and closes the curtain. It had been a strenuous past two days. Though the tourniquet slowed his bleeding, she was forced to cauterize the open ends of his legs before they returned to the head quarters. The attempt had been strenuous and Lacey was beside herself, but eventually the wounds were closed and cleaned, the ends of his legs bandaged below his knees. Everyone knew he'd never he'd never walk again even if he had the rest of his legs. When they eventually arrived back at headquarters it became apparent of Lacey’s supposed illness and Marie was forced to right a corresponding report and request that would change her squad.

walking back towards the front of the infirmary by her office, Mason approaches her.

“Squad leader you're being requested.” he informs her handing her a piece of paper of a patient not in the infirmary. She takes the slip of paper and reads over it.

“he’ll have to wait.” she states still walking towards her office once more.

“He’s in your office this time.” Mason adds. Marie stares at him before rolling her eyes and grabs a small satchel of med supplies and continues course.

“you can't avoid him forever.” Mason comments.

i can still be upset at him.” she retorts and opens the door to her office to see Erwin sitting in a chair across from her desk, his hand holding the right side of his neck.

Without greeting him she walks towards him and pulls his arm away to observe the damage. There was a small hole where the stitches had come undo and was bleeding slightly.

“still mad at me I see…” Erwin frowns from the pain as she starts working to close the wound. The sharp pain from the needle causing him to hold tightly onto the arms of the chair. “Marie…”

“Stop talking.” she orders him and continues to stitch up his wound as he falls silent. “no one likes being left in the dark.” she states. “I understand what you did and why. But… there was no reason for Isabel to die.” she sniffles slightly trying to hold back the tears as she finishes the stitching. Erwin turns to face her downcast view towards the ground.

“Lacey is pregnant..” she states and his eyes widen slightly at the statement. “Farlan is the father, she almost lost the father of her unborn child…”

“yes, that would have been tragic.” Erwin agrees but Marie still refuses to meet his gaze.

“All they wanted was to escape the underground, and would do anything even if it meant killing you…” she continues. “And you knew that!” her suddenly outlast causes his body to jump backwards in the chair slightly, his board back tightly against the back of the chair.

“you knew what they were after, but you kept me in the dark while you used your life as bait.” she hisses her words.

“Marie.” Erwin attempts to calm her but again she intersects.

“You kept me in the dark…. He could have killed you…” she starts to sob. “I'm the captain of the medical squad! How can I be expected to do my job when you purposely keep things from me?” she glares at him. “Stop keeping me in the dark…. Please.. “ She sighs as she let's go of her anger and looks away from him wiping the tears from her eyes, the frustration built up between them finally crashing down.

Erwin stares at the woman he had emotionally hurt and sighs whole forcing himself out of the chair. She takes a step towards her and envelopes her in a tight hug, her back to his chest.

“okay.”

“so Isabel…” Farlan sighs as he sits up in bed with help of pillows.

“yeah…” Levi states looking down the ground. “I'm sorry about your legs too.”

“those damn titans…” Farlan half smiles even though he was hurting inside.

“umm Farlan…. There's something I need to talk to you about.” Lacey speaks quietly and touches his arm with her hand.

“what is it?” Farlan asks wonder how it was possible to hear anything worse.

“i… was wondering if you'd like to go live with my family. They live just inside wall rose towards the north.” lacey responds.

“heh, want to send me away since I can't fight now?” farlan asks not believing what he was hearing. Levi remains silent and only glares at the blonde female for suggesting duchess a thing.

“not exactly.” lacey continues quietly. “I would be coming with you… you see. Im…” lacey looses all courage as she tries to find the right words.

Farlan notices how suddenly nervous she is and moves to touch her hand that was clutching the bed sheet that was covering him.

“hey what's wrong?” he asks. She fights titans on a regular basis, lots people along the way, what had brought her into such a fragile state.

“im... “ She takes a deep breath and looks up at him with a solemn smile. “I'm pregnant farlan.”

Both males stare at her is disbelief.

“your… pregnant?” Farlan asks in shock and she nods back. “its… mine?”

“Marie knows and I'm being put on leave.” lacey explains. “Will you consider coming with me?”

“doesn't seem like he has much choice.” levi comments making his blonde friend look at him. “congratulations you're finally having a brat.”

“levi…” Farlan sighs and looks back at Lacey.

“I know it's alot to taken so soon.” lacey apologizes rubbing the back of her head.

“yeah… you could say that.” he half smiles rubbing the back of his head in the same fashion. “but atleast this was a good news.” he comments, Lacey’s eyes light up upon hear his words.

“really?” she asks with a bright.

“yeah, who would have thought I guy like me would become dad.” he laughs. “Isabel wouldn't let me live it down.” he adds sadly.

“yeah... “ Lacey’s smile fades and leans closer to farlan who holds her hand tighter. Levi stares at them with arms folded before turning to look out the window and sees a small white bird fly up and land on television window sill as if to look at them.

Time passes and the commander gives the permission for Lacey to take her leave with Farlan who could now sit up with his own strength.

“so I guess I'll see you in a few years.” Mark comments looking up at his sister who was sitting on a car with farlan in the back.

“hey I expect you to visit on whatever days off you get.” Lacey argues.

“with the science squad? Not likely.” mark laughs before turning to Farlan. “you better take care of her!”

Farlan gulps and nods.

“geeze, don't scare the poor boy now.” Hange laughs. “bye Lacey come back soon!” she waves happily.

“Bye hange!” Lacey laughs while waving back.

“have a safe journey.” Dawn standing next to Mason as they walk up to the approach the cart.

“be sure to write back to us when you get there.” the large man grins.

“like I'd write you, for Dawn I'll make an exception.” lacey teases her colleague.

“at least write about the brat when it's finally born.” Levi states walking up with Marie and Erwin.

“of course.” Farlan replies. “you sure about staying here?”

“Tch, I've told you my mind is made up.” Levi states plainly glancing towards Erwin who stood next to Marie who was currently hugging Lacey.

“I'll miss you.” Marie states trying to hold back tears.

“I'll miss you too.” Lacey replies rubbing her eyes before looking at Erwin. “you be sure to take care of her captain.”

“of course.” Erwin nods.

“well I guess we should get going if we want to get there by nightfall.” Lacey sighs.

“Mom and dad will be expecting you.” Mark replies.

“by everyone!” Lacey waves.

“have a safe journey!” Marie waves.

“Stay safe everyone!” farlan yells from the back and soon the cart vanishes beyond the head quarters front gate.

“It's strange…” farlan speaks from the back of the cart as they continue down the dirt road within wall Rose.

“What is?” Lacey asks turning herself slightly to look at him.

“All my time underground… Levi and I have always been a team, then Isabel. Now… everything's changed.” He tells her, his head downcast looking at the wooden bottom of the cart.

“Yeah… but this can be a good thing.” Lacey smiles. “I think youll like my village, sure it's not as glamorous as the survey Corp headquarters, but it's nice.”

“Oh yeah? What's it like?” He asks. “I'm sure any place is better than underground.” He smirks.

“It's a small village up north so growing alor of crops isn't exactly reliable, but wide open grass plains against a forest. We are known by neighboring villages for wood working and raising horses.” Lacey begins describing her hometown. “Infact our village is responsible for raising a majority of the survey corps horses.”

“No kidding?” Farlan half jokes.

“Well we Chamberlain don't exactly like the higher ups so anything defiant we can do with reason you know.” She sticks her younger out.

“I see so that's why both and your brother joined.” Farlan replies.

“Mhmm, it was hard to leave my folks though… and Ally and Tim.”

“Ally and Tim?” He asks curiously.

“Oh yeah my younger brother and sister, they're twins, only about two years younger than me.” The blonde woman answers. “They help Mom and Dad on the farm.”

“Twins huh? Anything like your brother?” He asks cautiously.

“Ha ha ha! Why did he scare you?” She laughs.

“Well I…”

“Don't worry he's just over protective.” She replies. “He gets it from dad but once they get to know you you'll be fine.”

“Good to know.” The blonde man replies nervously.

“Don't worry.” She continues to laugh and continues down the road, but this doesn't ease his nerves.

The end of the day nears and the edge of a village can be seen in the distance. Lacey blue eyes light up at the sight and a broad smiles stretches across her face.

“Ah! There it is.” She cries out and farlan looks past her best her can but suddenly the cart jerks as the horses take off. Farlan yells out in surprise and the blonde behind the reins laughs as she directs her horses race off towards home.

Farlan is forced to hold on tight as he is jostled around in the back of the cart. He looses his grip and slips into the bottom of the cart trying not to be crushed by the bags flying around. Suddenly the cart comes to a stop and Lacey looks up to a large farm house with stables lined next to it with a small field between them.

“Everyone Im home!” She calls out and the wooden door slams open as two blonde teens rush out.

“Lacey’s back!” The twins cry out and climb up onto the cart to give her a tight hug. An older woman appears in the door way, her eyes widen upon seeing her oldest daughter.

“Bless my stars, you're finally here.” She smiles warmly, Lacey climbs down from the cart and gives her mom and hug.

“Hey mom.” the young blonde woman smiles while whipping some happy tears.

“Where is she?” A rough voice calls out from around the back of the house and a large man with Sandy blonde hair and matching scruff emerges from the field wiping his hands on a cloth.

“ hey Dad.” Lacey smiles.

“Don't ‘hey dad’ me young lady. We get a letter that you pregnant and coming home with the father.” He glares down at his daughter.

“Edgar…” his wife tries to keep him being hostile yet the man continues to glare. A long silence drags on as the two maintain eye contact. Farlan gulps nervously watching the two, unsure what will happen next.

“See come here kiddo!” The large man finally smiles engulfing his daughter in a tight hug. “I've missed you.”

“I missed you too.” Lacey laughs as he releases her. “All of you.”

“So this is the fella?” Her father asks eying farlan in the back of the cart. The young blonde smiles nervously and gives a small wave.

“He's adorable.” Lacey's mother whispers into her daughter's ear making her blush a light pink.

“Y-yeah, this is farlan.” She responds. “ we have alot to tell you.”
