I would like to thank *asturisw [link] for a great reference photo [link] .I tried to make the beard white and gray but it didn't seem to look just right, so I added a little color. I hope I didn't mess it up. This took about 50 hours.
Tools: Prismacolor pencils on smooth bristol.

How did you blend the colors so they are just so smooth? I have prismacolor too and mine is always very rough

Colored pencils are not my specialty, but I did get some help from another deviant. She told me to blend over it with a lighter color, than slowly work to white. It took me forever to get it like this, but it was fun. Hopefully, I'll try colored pencil again someday.

Makes me think of Ernest Hemingway and the old man and the sea. It looks right to me. I dig the eyes. The beard almost has a life of its own. It breaths and nevers looks the same way twice. Its pretty cool.
