one of my classes this semester is iconography and we just finished going over greek/roman iconography so we learnt about a lot of mythology; and let me tell you i don't know why but i really liked hades and persephone's myth ?? so i decided to draw them as i'd imagine them (this is probably the first time i drew a man so handsome woah).also i wanted to include the myth in here in case anyone didn't know it and was curious but everything i found was quite different from my class' notes lmao
basically to identify the man as hades i included the key to the underworld and two narcissus, which is a plant sacred to him. and one of persephone's attributes is the pomegranate as she ate six grains of this fruit that made her remain six months in the underworld (the narcissus is also her attribute).
hope you learnt something! and i'm sorry if i made any grammar mistake waah
ps. i'd also love to draw eros and psyche someday mmm

AHHH!!! A&@WPZXM!! I LOOOVE Hades and Persephone! They are my favorite Greek Myth couple! I think their story is so beautiful and tragic at the same time! And it can be interpreted so many ways, is she happy with Hades? Does she love him? I like to think she does~ 
And I have to say! It's the first time I've seen Hades look the way you drew him! Usually he has long black or silver hair, but your version is breathtakingly handsome!! I simply love it~!

yesss ikr! i like to think she was pretty reticent with him in the beginning bc she was kidnapped but then love bloomed and they are the happiest now
woaaah thanks so much!! i firstly drew him with long hair haha but one of the previous sketches had this hairstyle and i rlly liked it so i sticked with it, and i didn't want to use much black color for him so i went for that one cx i'm rlly happy with the result and i'm glad you like it too :3

Though I love the other versions that tell she eats the seeds and goes to the underworld willingly because she was tired of being treated like a child and knows she was dark and light enough to rule both the underworld and above while living with a man that treats her like a queen.
My favorite will always be the story where Hades kidnaps her after he sees her and knows he has to have her, so she hates him for it, because he stole her from the light and the warmth, but she comes to realize how lonely this man is and now she doesn't hate him as much, so she shares some of her light and warmth, and he gets addicted, he needs to have her as his own or he'll perish, so he tricks her into eating the seeds. And though she resents him for it, she learns that it's not so bad, she has someone that loves her unconditionally and will literally do anything for her, and a kingdom that both fears and loves her. So she stays, because she is happy, because she loves him too.

holy moly did i rlly make u feel inspired? *screams internally* and thank you so much aaah this means so much! i was actually quite unhappy with how persephone came out bc the paper kinda of broke (?) with so much water and stuff and the left part of her face got messed up so that's why it looks a lil darker haha
