Description
Drew a Batman design totally not knowing that there's already a character right now sporting a pretty much identical costume. Pissed me off. Anyway--Essentially a costume that I think Dick Grayson would wear if ever Bruce really did meet his end.
Started because it bugged me that Batman’s costumes lately sported big-eyed masks like Spider-man. I wanted to build a design that sported tiny eyes and big ears that would give Dick a kind of “radar sense” if you will. Helmet is armored and so are his arm braces. The rest of his costume is made of a highly durable fabric that is slightly resistant to temperatures, fire, knives, and bullets. The gloves and “boots” have clawed toes to more efficiently scale tall structures and improve fighting capability. These are retractable.
Cape is shorter, starting from his shoulders and ending at his calves. It is split down the middle as in Batman Year 100. It is also made of highly durable fabric.

To me, looks like a prototype of the costume seen in Batman Beyond (I think and old Bruce Wayne was using a similar one but using red logo in a flashback when he explained to Terry he was so beaten he decided to retire of being Batman)

It's a hard task to make an
all black suit like that, not look
like the Black Panther.

True enough but that was a risk I was willing to take. He's a creature of the night that uses the darkness to his advantage. It would work a lot better for him if his costume was all black.
I refuse to think that Black Panther has he lock down on an all-black costume.
I did give him the big prominent Bat-ears, small matte eyes and a huge Bat-symbol to try to make it different but I guess I ruined that by giving him claws. Really wanted to include that, though, to make him seem more than human, which is what he's usually pretending to be.
Also points against me for not giving him a face but I wanted to do that to make him look more intimidating. When you can see his face it's a lot harder to think that he's not just some guy in a costume.
I guess it's back to the drawing board!

Yea...
The two characters I think of when
I look at it is, Black Panter or The Fox [link] ...with a lil Batman Beyond mixed in it.

Which also reminds me of BP who they are essentially remaking...just a DC version.
Don't get me wrong...
If I never would have seen Batman
prior to your Batman drawing...
I would be $old on the design.

Yeah, argh. It's tough but I really want to make an all-black version. Thing is, I also hate the totally armored look that they used for the movies and in the video games so I'm kind of hampered by that. Thanks for the crits!

But armor makes sense in this day
and age of "realism" in fantasy.
It just doesn't need to be so
darn bulky.
If I were you...
I would turn that design into a creator owned character.

Yeah, right? I saw the costume design for the new Batman game and it looked super bulky. Sorry if you had anything to do with that game.
