18 gauge mild steel

This was my first attempt at making a pauldron. I have seen several designs like this floating around, and wanted to give it a try. The paper pattern went through several changes before I was finally happy enough to transfer it to steel. Of course after assembly I found several other design changes that need to be made. It didn't get as much planishing as it probably should have, but I am pretty happy with how it turned out.

You probably can't tell, but I also made a small tool to round over the rivet heads that were used on this. A few passes with a ball pien hammer was the only thing used on most of the other projects. With the new tool these ones turned out having a more conical shape, and were much more uniform.
