Vireo is incredibly withdrawn, he doesn't speak to anyone until they become very close, even calm and gentle rabbits tend to make him nervous. Vireo is easily startled and would rather avoid conflict at all costs.
The small rabbit is very loyal and would never willingly betray anyone he feels connected to, in fact he is dedicated to trying to help others. He hasn't discovered what he might be good at yet though. He is a quick learner and very bright but so far has proven rather dismal at most of the usual warren positions.
Backstory:
Kithood
Vireo is the product of the unloving coupling of an abandoned hutch rabbit and a domineering wild buck. A frail and unwell doe, Vireo’s mother only gave birth to two kits and the other larger male didn’t survive it’s first night outside it’s mother, leaving Vireo as the sole recipient for his father’s disappointment. Obsessed with her only surviving kit, Vireo’s mother sang to and groomed him constantly, much to his father’s disgust as the buck was already ashamed of his offspring’s diminutive size and shy disposition. Made further unwell by the stress of bearing kits, Vireo’s mother quickly declined and passed away. Too young to be without a mother and now raised by a harsh and uncaring father, the young rabbit became terrified of his father. Before her death, in an attempt to soothe his loss at her passing, his mother hd tried to teach him about the Black Rabbit of Inle but her hutch rearing and his young age had left the message unclear. Instead of reassuring her kit, she left him with nightmares of his father’s ebony coat creeping closer and ripping her warmth from him in his dreams. He held a paranoid fear after that, believing that perhaps his father was the Black Rabbit that brought about the death of the one creature who had shown him love. And so he retreated within himself, becoming even more frail and refusing to speak despite increasing violence from his father.
Originally called Gully by his mother the kit was renamed by his father after her death. Vireo’s father had a strange interest in birds and named his son as much a taunt as anything else. A vireo being a small delicate bird and the males of the species are persistent singers. The name was given both as a note of his size an joke about his silent nature.
Eventually tiring of bullying and abusing his kit, the black coloured rabbit had taken his son to the closest warren he knew of, dropping the frightened kit at the paws of the first rabbit he saw with little more care than one might discard leftovers. He gave no apology or sign of affection, simply naming the child to the strangers and expressing his intention not to return for it.
As such Gully, now Vireo, became an inhabitant of Bogweed Woods Warren.
Private
Vireo never took to other rabbits, being completely devoid of socialization in his first home, he lacked the skills to truly bond with the other kits and he remained terrified of the adult rabbits, even into his own adulthood. Although not treated poorly by the Bogweed rabbits, he remained skittish and didn’t speak to others, although he never tried to run away.
After the Bogweed rabbits had determined that his small size and delicate frame were not just a result of his poor nourishment and that he would likely never grow any larger or stronger, the hope for his Owsla training diminished rapidly. The young rabbit was very fast but was easily injured and so nervous that he was a useless fighter. He also proved to be a poor digger as dirt in his fur had a tendency to send him into fits of panic in which he groomed relentlessly. Vireo showed little aptitude for most training tasks and few rabbits wanted to work with the mute runt. As a result, he was sent to reside with the prisoners were he could do odd jobs and assist with menial tasks. The little rabbit never once resisted and accepted whatever direction he was given with his usual silent obedience.
Prisoner
Now a “prisoner” of sorts at Bogweed Warren, he does his best to help out where he can. He finds himself very lonely and yet incapable of seeking out relationships of any kind. For most of his time in Bogweed he has been assumed physically mute, although he is capable of speaking and does from time to time make small chirps and squeaks (usually in fear or warning other rabbits that they’re about to trample over him.) For the most part he does his best to stay out of the way of the more intimidating and powerful Owsla members.
He currently has no intention of trying to leave Bogweed Woods, as he both deeply respects and fears General Gladiolus and the Owlsa and because he has no where else to go.

[Character: Shenzi|Group: The Golden Butterfly| Extract from an rp with ~Tekaramity]
Marveled by the Air-Tribe cat's formality and class she followed along closely. Listening intently to Sel's story she couldn't help but feel a small pang of jealous. His parents had ingrained upon him this talent for words. Her family had barely been around long enough to give her consoling advice when the other kits had bullied her. "My parents were from different tribes...it didn't work out. When I came to live with my daddy I got a new momma...but when she was gonna have kits they both left to be loners...I kinda taught myself everything I needed to know." hoping the tom wouldn't judge her based on her lower education she tried to add a little humor to her tale "If I'm honest, I don't even know how to swim that well." she admitted. Many times other water-tribe kits had teased on the fact, she'd even skirted puddles when she was little for fear of drowning.
Shenzi smiled easily "Don't mention it, Sel. You really are quite talented at it." The ginger-tipped female skipped along with a bouncy-trot. More than a little pleased by the tom's consideration she gave a small laugh. "I like it. Don't change, Sel. one thing my new momma did teach me was 'you're always the best you when you're yourself.' It's a bit confusing but I think maybe I get it now." Nodding confidently Shenzi gave Sel a warm look "I think you're perfectly likable when you be yourself. Especially the poetry!"
Glad that the tom at least didn't intend to make fun of her and did seem curious about her parcel she gave the area one last quick look to make sure no one was watching them. Glowing a pale orange with just a small tinge of pink the she-cat's tattoo became more prominent. Using her powers the little female undid the top of the little leaf parcel and an finely braided string accented by round wooden beads uncurled from with in the baggy, draping it across her back so that he could see it. Her tattoo dimming she looked over at the work-in-progress necklace self-consciously. "I made it..." she mewed quietly "Each of the beads is one of my friends...well cats I know...I don't have that many friends so I made a necklace to always keep them close...I know it's kind of dumb...it's just..." bowing her head in embarrassment the she-cat waited for the laughter and teasing at her silly little hobby.
