You already do all the shading, might aa well continue and add the face in. The whole point of minimalist is to make it more simple, just removing the face isn't doing that. That's why I feel with your level of detail you might as well do the face as well.

It's one of those things which are just personal preference. I prefer them to be simple, because that is what I like about the minimalist style.
