Kithood (0 - 5 Moons)

Swiftkit was born to a pair of loving mates, Fawnleaf and Branchfrost, in their second litter. Swiftkit was the only kitten in the litter, something her parents were a little disappointed about but since their first litter had only been about 6 moons ago she wouldn't necessarily be short on family. After their first litter, Fawnleaf and Branchfrost became more lax parents, giving Swiftkit more than enough room to develop. Once Swiftkit was old enough her parents gave little if any guidance to the young kit. Because of this void that Swiftkit's parents unknowingly created, she started latching onto her older siblings, her brother Brightcrest in particular, barely Brightpaw at the time. Swiftkit was very clumsy because of her lanky legs and small body. (kind of like most kits but a little more exaggerated)

Apprenticeship (6 - approx. 12 Moons)

As Swiftkit got older she eagerly looked forward to becoming an apprentice, mostly for the thought of having a true mentor in her life. When the day came that she gained the name Swiftpaw she was assigned Whiterat as a mentor. The much older she-cat knew exactly how to handle Swiftpaw and keep her on task and in line. Whiterat never became the perfect source of reinforcement that Swiftpaw had been yearning for but Whiterat's consistency and rare shows of approval were a welcome change to her parents' indifference. The old molly really helped to shape Swiftpaw's outlook and reinforced her determination. Whiterat would rarely praise Swiftpaw and even then the words of kindness were usually followed by some criticism. Whiterat kept Swiftpaw on her toes every day, having her work to perfection, or exhaustion, on each task. For the record, this was also due to Swiftpaw's own personality and drive for praise.

Swiftpaw started seeing the general acceptance and praise from her community for her, now warrior brother, Brightcrest. Seeing him and all the things he would do to help others in their clan thoroughly inspired Swiftpaw and helped motivate during her training with Whiterat. This determination and motivation pushed Swiftpaw to do her very best in everything she attempted or was told to do. This effort would lead to lower lows when she didn't receive the praise she was expecting but soon Swiftpaw became accustomed to the kind of praise Whiterat would give. Bouncing back from criticism became the norm for her. She takes it hard but refuses to give in to discouragement.

Warriorhood (12 Moons - Current)

At last, the time came for Swiftpaw to earn her warrior name and join her brother in keeping her clan safe and healthy. She was given the name Swiftjay for her bright eyes, smaller stature, and extroverted nature. Swiftjay's chest swelled with pride for her new name. She's been very grateful to her mentor Whiterat for putting up with her and doing what had to be done to nurture her into a warrior. Not too long after her naming treacherous rockslides started to plague her clan's land. Swiftjay relished the challenge but her older siblings grew wary of the land. Brightcrest would try to travel with Swiftjay as much as he could knowing her impulsive nature and eagerness to face challenges. Brightcrest did what he could with Swiftjay to curb her more dangerous habits. They hadn't been much of a problem before but once made a warrior Swiftjay's impulsive tendencies became more dangerous, especially with the previous rockslides and growing unrest between Lynx Clan and Raven Clan. It seems that Raven Clan is having scarcity issues and has been encroaching on Lynx territory. Swiftjay would prefer to try and talk out the issues and maybe help out the other clan in their rough time but she also won't cross her own clan and leaves it up to those more experienced than herself.

Eventually, the unrest in Raven Clan came to a head and a new clan split off taking the less desirable land to the north. Snake Clan was formed and Flintstar was recognized by Star Clan, they offered an open welcome to any cats that may want to join them. Swiftjay's siblings and parents took the opportunity, most of her siblings and mother wanting to prove themselves with a new clan and make their own mark that way. Brightcrest, Swiftjay, Branchfrost, and Harenose remain in Lynx Clan, preferring the already established clan and general landscape. Swiftjay wouldn't leave her brother Brightcrest or the clan that raised her even if her mother decided to leave as well.

Despite the separation of her family Swiftjay still feels at home with Lynx Clan and fully intends on being the best warrior she can be for the clan. She sometimes butts heads with her sister Harenose but Brightcrest keeps order between the two. Swiftjay gets along much better with her brother and father.

Though Swiftjay has an undying loyalty to her own clan she also sees no reason to be hostile with anyone who hasn't been hostile to her, to begin with. This mentality was challenged when the scents of rogues started to cover the outskirts of the territories. Swiftjay, without hesitation, helped to fight back the rogues from her clan's territory, though she was left slightly conflicted. Bringing back pray for her clan was one thing, something she felt no guilt about but hurting another cat doesn't sit right with her. Despite these conflicts, Swiftjay continued and will continue to follow her clanmate's, deputy's and leader's examples, trusting their wisdom and judgment.

As Swiftjay becomes older she can further sense that there's something missing from her life, something she can't quite put her paw on. It has been eating away at her for a few moons now. After speaking with Rookstar she comes to realize a few things about herself that she would never have been able to understand without help. Just as this revelation comes so does a flood. Almost as soon as the clouds rolled in so did the waters, sweeping away several cats as it runs its course. Swifjay spends this time trying to look after those that are left. As a strong swimmer, she helps those that have trouble making their way to safer grounds within Snake clan territory. She keeps a safe distance from other cats outside of her clan, knowing full well after the gatherings that things can turn violent quickly, especially while tensions are running high. As the waters calm so do the clans, the cats returning to their home territories and trying to return to their normal routines. Swiftjay returns with a weight on her shoulders, still not having come to terms with her own hangups surrounding having an apprentice. For now, she intends on working through it the only way she knows how, time to go hunting.

Example: Dim morning rays crest over the horizon and into Swiftjay's den. At their warm touch, she quickly springs up and stretches out to the tips of each of her paws, eager to get out of her den and star the day. Her brothers lay sleeping still, they wouldn't wake up until the sun was higher in the sky. She carefully makes her way out of their den, Brightcrest stirs while the rest remain still. Swiftjay pauses a moment just outside, letting the sun warm her fur and the light breeze fill her chest. A familiar voice comes from over her shoulder "It's a good day for a swim don't you think?" Brightcrest lazily strides to her side, his eyes still tired. "Everyday is a good day for a swim." Swiftjay responds with a cheery smile.
