Description Hi there..
Well this painting was inspiered by the ending of the orginal little mermaid story.
While we all know and love a lot disneys great masterpeice, the original ending was a lil different.
The mermaid didnt get the prince, and sadly sacrificed her self and her happiness to keep him happy.
While she believes that she's going to die, she instead becomes and air spirit.
And is told that now she has a chance to earn her own soul.
I wondered what the air spirits would look like.
So here is my take on them.
This lovely lady still has her mermaid tail, representing what she was. However she also has the wings of an angel, representing the soul she will some day earn.
The painting is set at sun set over the inlet of steep cliffs in the background.
I had a very hard time getting the sea and land to come out right so i hope it looks okay.
I also hoep that you like the spirit her self.
Her wings reflect the green and blue of her tail and the purple of the mountains as well as the red of the sky.
I hope every one enjoys this latest effort of mine.

This one looks very glorious for a mermaid to have wings, and the story to go with it is really a good way to protray such a nice picture. You did wonderful on this one.

She's beautiful! I love your candy colors ^-^ The idea of a mermaid with wings is brilliant. I dont' think I've ever seen anyone use that idea before!!

OH Thank you! i was particualarly please with this.. Id never seen that idea my self so i wanted to try it.
I acutally sat down and took the time to do this one the "professional way" which means.. working ou the concept art for the drawing..
working out the final drawing..
transfering the drawing to tracing paper.. .
then transfering the drwing to the water color paper with graphite sheets so that the water color paper would not be damaged.
Mostly cus i wanted to see if i could, but some because the concept art came out so well i was scared that if i re drew it.. id mess it up.
Im glad that it worked out so wonderfully. thanks again for looking at her and the great review!

acutally no.. just pure water color painting. I just takes a lot of time to get one that precise.. ive spent all after noon and most of the night on her ..and two days on the concept art.

I do.. most of this stuff is out of the vast and yawning chasam i call a head. I just started into art school and i hope at some point to get a job as a professional artist or illustrator.

Would you help me make my group big? It's focused on making characters (all MAIN characters are female) and using them in ways specified my me. I give prompts once a week, and deviants make deviations based off them.
