My relationship inspiration meme filled for my OCXCanon- Miss Melanie Dirge and Ashley of School for Vampires

Like I said in my blank meme:
Just for fun- were your couple inspired by several romantic and even
friendship relationships (innocent non-romantic friendships may count as
inspiration too because in my opinion, the best couples are not just
trophy spouses, but also partners and good friends who can enjoy and
have a good time and take some time to grow.) from media? Maybe elements
of the 'unlikely friendships/coupling' type? or black/dark-comedy
effect type couples? books, movies shows etc?

To start off with mine, on the surface, you think a VampireXHuman couple would be inspired by OTHER vampireXhuman (romantic) couples- especially those from those disgustingly sleazy harlequin romance novels (ewww) right?
WRONG

To sum up- its not necessarily the species that can inspire a couple- but the feel and sometimes content that can sometimes inspire.
So here we have some info in what inspired the Frienship/Romance between my OC Miss Melanie Dirge and Ashley Von Aschenbecher- BOTH Frienships and romances and whatnot:

THe main 2:

1. BeetlejuiceXLydia (the Beetlejuice animated series- 1989 (c) Tim Burton )
If you've seen my OC inspiration meme for Miss Melanie Dirge (see here: [link] ) , you probably know that Lydia was partly the inspiration for Melanie's personality. Not to mention she has supernatural creature friends just as Lydia does.
As for the BJXLydia pairing- well, it is based on the fact that a lot of people (not all) do pair them up in fanart and fanfiction. Also, its to do with the fact that Melanie is a strange human girl who is sweet and Ashley is a somewhat mischevious party-loving supernatural creature (in his case- a vampire. Also he tends to be not AS crazy as BJ, but sometimes has his out-there moments.) who can get into trouble at times and helps the human girl (or the human girl helps him and vice-versa). And bear in mind- this is the CARTOON Beetlejuice (which is an alternate universe to the 1988 live action movie) where I got the inspiration from.

2. MarinaXPrince Justin (Saban's Adventures of the Little Mermaid/Ningyo Hime Marina no Boken 1991 (c) Toei animation)
'Hey, HOW can a humanXmermaid relationship inspired your OCxcanon pairing?' you may ask?
Well, along with the Beetlejuice cartoon, this was another favourite of mine growing up. The pilot episode was only ok, but what made up for it were the episode that followed. You see, Marina and Justin were not only just a sweet kissy-kiss romantic couple- but importantly one that could have fun and enjoy the good times and adventures they have together. Also, I love the fact that Marina's animal friends (Whinnie the seahorse being my favourite) were able to tag along and befriend Justin- and actually help out when in danger. I also loved the idea of the magic potion that enabled Marina to be human and Justin to breathe underwater temporarily so that they can visit each other and get to know their worlds/places. This is pretty much reflected the fact that a romantic couple are able to visit each others places to get to know each other's friends and family and even help out- even if they can't always do so. And I really like that idea.
This inspired the fact that Ashley can visit Melanie- at times introducing her to his friends- or she meets up with him at some place and introduces him to her friends/parental figures etc get to know them and vice versa. Also, as romantic partners, they are NOT trophy spouses- but partners and good friends.
Lastly, unlike the very overrated Disney film, sure, Marina and Justin may have fallen in love due to her saving him and such, BUT- as seen through the series at least they were able to get to KNOW each other (and even thier friends and such) for MORE than 3 days. Plus Marina is shown to care for her cousins/family despite her love for Justin.

Harveytoon purists- PLEASE. I don't have any time to discuss this stupid shipping war type stuff. Just let people like what they like- pairings, characters and all. Also Bear in mind- like with the 1988 Beetlejuice movie AND 1989 film- the Spooktacular Adventures animated series is an ALTERNATE UNIVERSE from the live action Casper film. and Finally, Just because I support CasperXKat, dosen't necessarily mean I dislike Wendy. End. Of. Story. *puts down scythe* *sigh-people these days* *shakes head*
Now, YES I am aware that this movie has flaws. But that dosen't stop it from being one of my top 10 personal fave 90s movies (which I may do a meme of later). Heck as proof, I even have the song 'Remember me this way' on my Ipod- and even some of the movie OST. But here's the thing- it introduced me to my very first Supernatural creatureXhuman romance- which is why it has a place in my heart. And while it is more of an innocent/first crush type of love, its one that HAS inspired a couple of elements of the MelanieXAshley relationship. For one, like Kat being afraid of Casper, Melanie was kinda afraid of Ashley when she first met him (this was especially due to the warnings her mentor Raven gave her about getting close to vampires). But once she got to know him, a nice little relationship between them began to blossom. Lets not forget that, like Lydia Deetz, Kat is another character that has inspired part of Melanie's personality (especially if you've seen the OC inspiration meme I've done of her) Also, the dance scene at the very end of the film (my FAVOURITE part of the movie that always makes me cry) inspired some dance events that they have. Melanie wasn't always a confident ballroom (as in dancing that involves 2 partners) dancer, until Ashley kinda gave her some confidence too. <3

4. The Frienship between Tony and Rudolph (the Little Vampire 2000 (c) New Line Cinema)
WHAT? They ONLY vampire-human relation in this relationship inspiration meme is a FRIENDSHIP?
Well, believe it or not, it is.
Well, bear in mind I DO know that the books by Angela Somer Bodenburg (which I have yet to read) and the 1985 live action series (which has 13 episodes by the way) is MUCH better, the movie still has a special place in my heart. Sure its different to the books and series, but it still holds a certain charm I can see.
Again, much like Casper and Kat's friendship/romance, Tony was pretty much afraid of Rudolph. Whereas Casper was just nervous and such, Rudolph had to control his bloodthirsty urges. But later as soon as they got to know each other- ESPECIALLY after how Tony helped Rudolph- they were good friends. Melanie pretty much helped Ashley when they first met one windy night- and that was how they started to become friends (but in MDXAshley's case they became more than just friends). Also, the flying scenes in the Little Vampire movie are what inspired some pics and scenes (in stories) of Melanie and Ashley flying together <3. And lets not forget this- both Ashley and Rudolph have at least one rowdy/rude-tempered member of thier family/one friend who are way too keen to bite things (Rudolph's older brother Gregory and one of Ashley's younger male friends Fletscher) XDDD

5. Those various folktales that tell of unlikely friendships/romances.
Especially ones where the human helps the creature first and becomes friends with him/her later. Sure not all of them end happily, but still an inspiration there.
