I've always loved Vienna Teng's music, but it had been a while since I'd listened to some of my favorites by her. I put on the album Waking Hour and was immediately struck with inspiration. This piece was the result of that inspiration.

Couldn't have thought of a more appropriate title; "overcome" is one of the few words whose verb and past participle form are exactly the same... whether the drive to overcome obstacles or being overcome by emotion, I hope this piece conveys something meaningful to you. I'm very happy with how it turned out, since no reference and full body and anatomy looks acceptable! (above all though, i feel like i captured the emotion i wanted to convey)

Previous iterations had her knuckles touching the ground, making her seem more helpless, but I changed them so she is concealing her hands in the folds of cloth... seems more patient with still a touch of helplessness.

I want to watercolor this but will upload this for now in case I don't get to it! critique always appreciated
