Thanks so much, Fereshteh! I worked real hard on this piece. The original pencil sketch came together so well, that for about a week or so I was afraid to finish it in pen, afraid that I would mess it up. So, thanks for the comment!

So iconic and structured . . . I've been looking for about 5 minutes now, and there's a sort of sarcophagus? behind her w/ two star - eyes . . her dress ends in a calla lily shape . . . I know the trees mean something? (I might as well post this, because as soon as I do, I'll realize what's actually in the pic.) It's lovely work Jodie. I love the severe beauty of the figure.

Yep, looks like you got it! It was primarily the two stars for eyes, with a sort of abstract "beast" behind this beauty, in which the darkness is almost a character in itself. This could also be called "The Rose *and* the Dark." Yes, the dark surrounds her almost like death or a tomb, but she is still herself. Roses and lily-shapes ... for purity and love.
