Description
The doorbell rings again.
"All right, I'm coming!" You walk to your front door and open it. A man stands there, looking impatient.
"Inspector Nakamori? What can I do for you?" You invite the police chief inside. He clears his throat, obviously nervous.
"Um, ______, I came here because there's something you need to see." He holds out a folded piece of paper. You examine it, and then look back at him.
"This is from Kaito Kid, isn't it?" The man nods. You feel yourself burn with annoyance as you remember the notorious young thief's arrogant smirk. You unfold the note and read it...and almost wish you hadn't.
"When the moon next fills the sky with its haunting light, amid the sounds of revelry, I shall steal the detective diamond of the South. This, however, is one treasure I do not plan on returning. Signed, Kaito Kid."
You look back at Inspector Nakamori, smirking.
"Well, this should be fun." Nakamori gapes at you.
"How can you be so calm about this? The next full moon is tonight, and so is the Fukuoka Museum's 30th anniversary celebration!" You laugh and shake your head.
"If there's one thing I know about Kid, it's that he would never hurt anyone on his heists. Besides, I enjoy playing this little game with Kid." The inspector shakes his head.
"_______, you are one of a kind."
That night, You stand in the Fukuoka Museum's event hall, chatting with your friend, Hikari Miyagi, while Inspector Nakamori stands nearby.
"Do you really think Kid-sama will come tonight, ______?"
"Heh, I know he will. A thief like him, he's a master of deception, but he never goes back on a promise."
"Well said, Meitantei-san!"
Everyone falls silent in shock, turning to stare at the white-clad figure that had come to be standing behind you. For some reason, your mind seems to be working sluggishly, and before you can react to the sudden silence, the young thief wraps his arms around your waist and throws a flash bomb to the floor. As the light fades, neither of you are in sight.
"Hey! Kid, let go of me! This isn't funny; what the heck do you think you're doing?!" Everyone follows the sound of your indignant shouts, and stares dumbfounded at the sight of you with your arms bound above your head, held up by a rope attached to the rafters. You and Kid are standing on the stage where the band had been playing moments before. Kid smirks at you and grips your chin, forcing you to look right at him.
"Ah, sorry Meitantei-san, but it just wouldn't do to have you getting away from me now would it?" You turn bright red and shake off the thief's hand, glaring at the floor.
Darn it, he was playing with you. You were susceptible to anything he said or did, and he knew it.
"Well, I guess I can let everyone know what's going on while you ignore me." Your head shoots up, your eyes wide. Kid ignores this and turns his eyes to the crowd.
"I made it clear that I would steal the detective diamond of the South, and I have. ______ is mine now, and I don't plan on letting her go."
He turns to face you. Your eyes are focused solely on him. You face is bright red; beads of sweat begin to form on your forehead and you begin to tremble slightly. Kid feels a surge of satisfaction at how much he has affected you. He moves closer to you, pressing his body against yours. You shrink from his touch, realizing that you are cornered, unable to escape from the thief. When you triy to look away from him to sort your scattered thoughts, he places a finger underneath your chin and gently forces your head around to face him.
"My face is over here, Meitantei-san. Getting flustered, are we?"
He is so close to you that you can feel the heat from his body. His warm breath tickles the edge of your neck, and you try not to shudder. Kid seems not to notice this, nor does he care about the crowd that was watching you.
"And with this," the thief whispers, dropping his voice to a seductive purr, "I shall seal the spell I have cast over you."
Your breath hitches as the thief leans closer. You fnally give in to his enigmatic charms. As your eyes slide shut, your only thought is Hikari will never stop bugging me for this.
