Born into one of two warring empires, Kame was simply a border patrol despite his upper class background. He was large and powerful with a thick mane to protect himself, it was an obvious choice to place him there, away from the public eye and certainly away from the Emperor. Kame is a stoic lion and not much surprises him, but when a small little head pops up from a bush in front of him with a big gleaming smile he is put off by it. This intruder was certainly not from his pride so obviously it was from the enemy...but why then is she at ease around him, he could kill her after all. He attempts to persuade her to return to her side then tries chasing her but she's much too quick and disappears in a blink of an eye. This was clearly a game to her and he was getting tired of it. The only thing he can do is sit and stare her down until she leaves. But she doesn't. She gets closer and closer until she's sitting right next him. Silence fills the space between them when she introduces herself. Miliki, she calls herself, and is a scout for the opposing faction. He curtly responds and remains firmly seated where he is at the ready for an attack. Yet it never comes, instead idle chatter fills his head. Does this lioness ever shut up? The sun starts to set so she bounds off promising to see him again. Wait. Again? And so goes the game of him trying to push her out of the territory and her dancing between his feet until they both tire and rest. The relentless talking worms it's way into him and he starts to open up. During one of their conversations she goes quiet then looks at him, eyes earnestly staring into his own. Why hasn't he killed her? He has had plenty of time to and they are enemies. Kame pauses. Why hasn't he? Well, she seemed like an okay lion, she's done nothing to hurt him, she's good company, and nothing she's done has made him deem her a threat. She's just another lion. Ah. She's just another lion. She's not an enemy, she's just lion like he is, like the rest of his pride, and certainly like the rest of her pride. The war that has been raging on has continued for generations but do they truly know what they're fighting for anymore? Every answer is vague and just ends with the explanation the other side is bad so they have to fight. Then and there they both agree that this conflict has gone on too long and want to change it, but they are only two lions.
In secrecy they assemble like-minded lions to the cause but the rebellion is cut short. A rat had outed him. Kame is brought to the Emperor for judgment and there he pleads his case, though it falls on deaf ears. He is to be publicly executed the next day for his treason. In confinement he tries to urge his fellow followers to step up and fight but very few are willing to. Thus judgment day comes and he is brought to the slab before an audience yet before the executioner can end his life Miliki pops up from the crowd along with followers from her own pride. They had also been outed to but managed to escape their captors and are now there to save Kame and any willing lions that want to join their cause. Just like Miliki had danced and disappeared with him, she does this to the guards making enough time for most of the lions to escape.
Lives were lost but a good handful have survived. With both empires now hunting them they had no chance to rest before making the long journey to nowhere to find a new home. Those who were injured slowly fell to their wound and hunger and thirst ran rampant in the small group cutting their numbers three fold. Kame and Mililki pressed on and urged their followers too as well. On and on they travelled until they come across a dying land. Miliki stopped the group and stated this was where they will start their new lives. Kame and the others were obviously against the idea. The lands has clearly haven't seen rain in months, the herds were moving, and the vegetation has disappeared. She was steadfast in her decision and claimed these lands would be theirs. With only their trust in their leader, they find refuge in a large rock structure. The following days they struggled to hunt for food, used to the easy access of "farmed" meat, and attempted to find any source of water. In the mean time, Miliki was busy working away getting to know the herds and predators that remained, trying to learn what she can of the land. Apparently the area was once fruitful and full of life, teeming with vegetation, water, and herds, that is until a group of predators invaded and indiscriminately killed any living being in their path. They ravaged the land. Over hunting, hoarding the water, setting fires across the land until they left as soon as they came. Determined to revive the lands, Miliki leaves to find seeds to sow the land and orders Kame to search for a water source no matter how far and to lead the remaining inhabitants to it. So search he does. Trekking on for days he finally comes to river overflowing with water with a waterfall high up into the clouds as if a gift from the gods. He drinks his fill then gets to work on how to move the water closer to their lands. As he walks back, he follows the river until it ends and there he sees the solution. If he could dig a path a days worth away he could reach the beginning of the land's lake to bring water back to the land. Hurrying back, he pleads the inhabitants to follow him and work to move the water closer. It takes a full moon cycle to complete it but the land had finally got water rushing in to fill its dried lakes, and fortunately Miliki came back with bundles of seeds. With hard work they sow the land and replant the vegetation, working together with the other inhabitants to revive the area. Slowly and surely the land starts to recover.
Kame and Miliki had no plans of ruling the lands as a monarchy but the well placed trust in them across the inhabitants, they step up to take their place as the first king and queen of this land, the Pridelands, for it was the hard work of every living animal that helped rescue the area and could revel in its glory with dignity.

Just a "short" blip for the first king. Kame is by no means the first king to have existed but in the place known as the Pridelands there were no known monarchy.
I also changed his design from the first image of him. I think he's much sexier this way.
