Description
Finally got round to finishing Hunk's design for this AU (this is probably the best that I've drawn him yet, so I'm really pleased). Just Coran to go, and the team will be complete! Hunk in the Voltron: Xenoblade Chronicles AU is, like Lance, a mix between Reyn and Sharla – he has aspects of both of their characters, being the main tank of the team like Reyn and protective and supportive like Sharla. I could hardly leave out his signature headband, however, so that stayed when I was sketching the design.

Like Keith and Lance, Hunk is a member of the Colony 9 Defence Force, as part of the engineering corps, but also spends a lot of his time working in the Weapons Development Lab with Pidge. His speciality lies in mending machinery while Pidge is the one who makes a lot of equipment from scratch, but his cooking is also famous throughout the colony. A loyal and steadfast friend, Hunk considers his friends as close as family and while he's not the bravest of souls he will do whatever it takes to keep them out of harm's way. Hunk's size can make him appear intimidating, but in reality he would much rather talk things through as peacefully as possible and hates conflict (hence why he remains out of the main combat units of the Defence Force and prefers to spend time tinkering with machines). During the team's travels around the Balmera, Hunk is constantly looking out for his girlfriend, Shay; a Balmeran medic who was transferred to Colony 6 with Lance but went missing during a Galra attack. A firm believer in doing what is right, Hunk's steadfast attitude helps to keep the team on track, even if his nerves can set him off on anxious ramblings, and he fights using a shield driver that Pidge made for him.
