Well...I have a lot of explaining to do, don't I?
Ok, I do have a bad relationships with reboots/remakes but can you blame me with a vast majority of them are either embarrassing at best or at worse, a big slap in the face?! I'm looking at you, "Jem and the Holograms"!! But there have been some remakes/reboots that I seem to be comfortable with such as "Peanuts"(if that counts) and "Karate Kid". Meanwhile, I also know that my dream cast are sadly gone, but had they been alive and a director decided to remake/reboot the 1970's cult film, "Phantom of the Paradise", he/she could've gone with these choices.

Michael Jackson as Winslow Leach:  Yeah, I know what you're thinking; "MICHAEL JACKSON, one of the biggest singers of all time playing the nerdy Winslow Leach? " Well...the reason being is because (1) Michael always wanted to play Erik from Andrew Lloyd's "Phantom of the Opera" as he felt that he could relate to him. And (2) Like Winslow, Michael had always found himself trusting the wrong people who would later screw him over big time be it his own father, Sony and his eventual accusers. Not to mention, Michael had he played "The Phantom", there's no doubt that he would be like Maestro from "Ghost" and be one heck of a terrifying guy.

David Bowie as Swan: Ever since "Labyrinth" I had always thought Bowie would've made a pretty convincing villain and not to mention, like Paul Williams(the actor who plays Swan), he's a very talented singer-songwriter who wouldn't surprise anyone if he had made something like "The Paradise".
Selena Q. Perez as Phoenix: Granted she barely acted in films outside of cameos and music videos(no rhyme intended, I swear!), but she does have some innocence about her. And at the time of her sad death, she was also a rising star even though she probably would've been more grounded than Phoenix had(like taking drugs which Selena had avoided like the plague).

Freddie Mercury as Beef: TBH, I wasn't going to have Freddie as Beef as my first choice was Prince. Then when I realize that Prince wouldn't go for the idea of Michael killing him, I then went to Freddie. Sure, he wouldn't have been up for it either but still. Not to mention, Freddie is also flamboyant enough to play this...tragic figure.

Oliver Reed as Philbin: If you knew Reed...you'd understand. Not to mention like Philbin, he had also played a priest who'd died horribly .

Nirvana as The Juicy Fruits: I know Michael never hated Nirvana(or at least to the extent of Winslow hatred towards the Juicy Fruits), and I know the members would never do the horrible stuff the fictional band took part in. But, let's face it, who else could have been the Juicy Fruits?

Well, that's my dream-cast. Enjoy !!

I agree with all of these except Michael Jackson as Winslow. No one should have played that role but William Finley. He had so few leading roles as is. The part was also written with him in mind. I dislike Michael Jackson, and I realize that this is only metaphorical, but the thought of that makes me angry.

I didn't expect you to even reply... Now that I think about it, Jessica Harper should also still be Phoenix because this is what made her acting career really get started.

When I was a very young girl I had seen parts of the movie. Though back then I never really understood that it was based on a true story. Oddly enough when Michael Jackson died, I had began to gain interest in him. And with him, I began to think about Selena and to make a long story short I began to really get into her.

Nice. I first heard Dreaming of You on the radio and I liked it. The thing is I heard of a Selena who was murdered but I didn't know that song was from her. Anywho then I saw the movie and started finding out more about her but I prefer Chris's book. Also I love Chris Perez. Did you get to watch all of it?
