It has been postponed for a long time and finally I finished this tiny oil painting last week. And the good news is it is accepted by a local gallery and will be exhibited this Friday! I cannot express how happy I was when I heard the news. Actually, I submitted several my paintings/ drawings to that juried exhibition and I have no idea why this painting is accepted. I thought my sketches were better than this...Here is the info printed on the exhibition catalog book:

Artist Statement: Vanitas is a type of symbolic work associated with still life painting in 17th century. Inspired by their work, here I try to use least items to convey a feeling of autumn. I choose three common veggies in autumn: pumpkin, garlic and apple. In this tiny oil painting, I try to describe the sprit of a season using three simplest object.
Influence: Vanitas, the 17th century classical painting school of symbolic still life, influenced my work.
I will upload the exhibition photos next weekend! My first exhibition, I am so excited to see that!
