Description
My version of Narcissa Malfoy.She turned out to be a mixture of a few different people.
Angelina Jolie, Rhona Mitra and Avril Lavigne (and the blonde hair is from my own imagination).
I'm actually really happy with this.
I think she turned out pretty well. The light was a bit tricky, because in the original reference, it was a really strong light, so she didn't have any deep shadows (which I have become obsessed with, as you know, lol). I actually also really enjoyed drawing the hair. TIP: if you are drawing light hair, flick it to some music!! (I had Christmas by Candlelight or whatever it was on the TV).
Pencils used: 2H, F, HB, 9B

I think that Narcissa is also described as "shining in the darkness" and she's the only Slytherin Harry said could have been "nice looking". In Spinner's End she certainly doesn't look like she has dung under her nose... just because she's described once as looking displeased doesn't mean she always does! lol. This is meant to be a family portrait... you try to look your best.
Perhaps Narcissa doesn't like Quidditch and was there only for Draco...

hmmm, coming to that - I may not remember it correctly but I believe that in draco's detour she was also described as if having sth smelly under her nose P and in spinner's end that kind of description wouldn't fit in the dramatic situation we had there so it wasn't there. OK, I'm getting too irritating P have to stop :>

Mmm... notice that at the QWC, and in Madam Malkin's, she's in the presence of Harry, Ron and Hermione? Hmm? lol. Spinner's End was just an example of her showing another emotion. I hate it that some people (not you), can only ever see the Malfoys through Harry's eyes... anyway... prattling now.

I hate people who think that the Dark Side looks like the trio sees it. I myself believe that Severus in reality does not have greasy hair and, above all, yellowing teeth :> OK, maybe he has a bit too sleek hair, but his teeth are normal! (have to!)
and I was soooo excited about the black sisters in spinner's end, particularly about narcissa - I didn't hope that she cared for her family - I always thought that malfoys' marriage was arranged and lucius and narcissa didn't like each other. spinner's end was for me kind of mix of all the FFs I've ever read. sev - most trusted advisor... narcissa - actually capable of caring about others... I'm getting carried away
I don't know which of British actresses would be good for narcissa's role. I don't know many British actors... but I *truly* hope she would be a *true* blonde with blue eyes rather than a dyed one...

Mmmm... well... I have to say, I imagine Snape with greasy hair and *slightly* yellow teeth. I mean, I have slightly yellow teeth, so it's not hard to imagine, for me.
I LOVED Spinner's End. It was seriously my second favourite scene in the books (after the Lightning-Struck Tower, lol). Narcissa was awesome! I almost died when Bellatrix called her Cissy! lol. What I love, is that JK has these "villans", who just completely love each other. Just like Lily and James loved each other and Harry, Narcissa and Lucius feel the same way about each other and Draco. *le sigh*
Well, I mean, you can tell I love The Malfoys... co-run a community dedicated to them and Remus Lupin! lol. ~Malfoys-and-Moony
It wouldn't really bother me, because neither Tom Felton, not Jason Isaacs are naturally blond... just give her a wig and she'll be right!! lol.

I like the fact that there are no deep shadows, it's a good contrast to your other pics. And it really enhances her eyes and gives her an almost ethereally pale look...

BTW, I picture Lucius as looking like Jason Isaacs, so making a Draco that is a cross between these two is going to be interesting... lol.

Beautiful! It looks like it was from one reference, not a complilation of many. Hence, it looks like its skillfully drawn from a real person. She's gorgeous!
I must say, though, that she looks more fitting to be Fleur Delacour, at her current age. Too beautiful, graceful, and kind-seeming (yet still proud and a tad snobby) to be Narcissa. I thought of Narcissa as being more there COULD be beauty to her if she didn't have that snippy, staring-down-at-the-world look. And wasn't on Voldemort's side.
I do in a way agree with that person above about the shadows on the left...yet it doesn't necessarily NEED that- the main light source is from our right, but it might be reflected or other minor light sources are from the left.
Overally, very gorgeous! I must fave it!

Well, the main picture was from Angelina Jolie, and she's... what.. 30. So, I actually added in some extra stuff to make her look a bit older.
It's interesting... I've always imagined Narcissa to be beautiful, graceful and (in her own home) kind-seeming. I figure that this portrait hangs in Malfoy Manor, and that her pose and look would be different in another building.
And, like I said up above, the original didn't have it, as it was outside on a very sunny day, and there were light sources everywhere.

I really like Narcissa as a character. I'm so glad that we got to see more of her in HBP.
Hair was interesting... I think it's the only time I've actually ever enjoyed drawing hair... maybe it was because I had to concentrate instead of just scribbling. lol.
