The more beautiful a fae is, the more horrifying it actually is.Note:This is a VERY water-downed version of Yukari's True form
A common theory of Touhou is that the majority of the characters are disguised in convenient forms to hide their true forms. So beneath the cuteness of some of the youkai, they are very horrifying creatures who you could not bear to witness. The most common person being this is none other than Yukari. Thanks to her unsettling nature and ridiculous range of power it's sometimes assumed that she disguises herself as a blond woman to hide her true self so she can interact with others. The true form is believe to be something shown in her gaps: Large eyes, arms and mouths.
This was a hard drawing to do and color, but I think it turned out good. I based her design off an insect (namely a firefly,) and drew it under the condition that Yukari was slowly deteriorating her physical form and into her true form. Happy 50th deviation to me, and may you pray you never witness the true form of Yukari Yakumo

This is also part of my headcanon as to why Yukari is so Lazy. Using a 3+time dimensional body is stressful for her and so she sometimes "sleeps" in order to avoid losing control. I also thinks that the more tired she gets the more she slips into the uncanny valley and her voice becomes more and more a voice of legion.
So yeah... I mostly think Yukari tries her best to be "friendly" for a youkai. Of course if I compare her to someone like Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite. I would think that Yukari is more powerful in a sense of scale, with Yukari being interms of infinites aleph 1 while Elizabeth would be aleph null (Cantor notation for infinities).
(Cutting away the set theory though. Elizabeth's color theme is blue, while Yukari's is purple which gives Yukari at an higher energy on the spectrum line than Elizabeth.)

I do agree in the three dimensional body to interact with one another and how tiring it can get for Yukari. If you notice in the fighting games, her dash looks like she's dragging herself instead of flying like the others and getting hit barely causes her to be fazed. Also another thing I liked based off a video is that Yukari voice is obviously filtered as a way to speak to others.

My love for her must be deep because even this does not unsettle or compromise it. True love does not care. Even if this or something even more grotesque were her true form... I would not leave her side. She is still the same person regardless of her appearance. That wise and intelligent fun loving troll is still who she is no matter what she looks like. Instead of fearing her I embrace her. Her inner beauty will always be the same regardless of what her exterior form may be. She will always be the Yukari I know and love. *Hugs her regardless of what form she is taking*.

I would not want to fight her... only because I can't bring myself to strike at her. Reminds me of the first dream I saw her though, I saw her attack patterns and bombed through them, but I never directly targeted her. I was somehow in her gap realm and after a couple of her spell cards she took my by the hand and led me around some place, showing me the border. Felt like her taking me in. Still, her love seems like something that does have to be earned. I at least try to be someone she can be proud of.

That's actually a headcanon of mine: that Yukari is really a Lovecraftian horror using Maribel Hearn's body as a host.

Really. My theory is that Maribel's her daughter who was born a human (cause Youkai are weird.) Maribel will eventually become something like that. Still we can at least agree that Yukari is definitely not the woman we view her normally and their are many cases proving it
