Hmm... seeing that you encouraged "advanced critique" I want to be honest...
Unfortunately, I have to agree with Raventhird: Knowing (and loving) some of your previous work, I honestly find it difficult to understand why you chose this as your "comeback piece". At first glance this image looks like the average devArt-fractal to me, maybe even below average: random, arbitrary, undefined, lacking meaning and expression.
Looking more closely - which I did only, because I love your previous work - I find there are all kinds of shortcomings:
* The textures - especially in the big white thing on the bottom left - do not work well and appear random.
* The colors might be bright and beautiful, but that's about it. They do not work well together, let alone speak a common language.
* The structures seem to be the product of chance. Granted, this seems to be how most fractal artwork is created, but I have come to expect a bit more from you.
* Cropping, perspective, direction. contrast...
All in all, I am very sorry (I really am) to say that this does not impress me the way some of your previous work did.

I really like this piece. I think my favorite part is the subtle, overlayed pattern. It gives the piece more depth and detail. The colors and angle make me think of deep space. Maybe this is where stars are born.
