This particular drawing was based on symbols of Pachamama - the sun and the moon being her right and left breasts respectively, while she carries a baby inside facing downward in preparation for birth. The plants sprouting from her hands were my own personal touch, based on her association with bountiful harvests that the Inca people prayed to her for.In conjunction with my When Mythology Lived series, I once again paralleled Mapusaurus - the “Earth lizard” from South America - to the Earth Mother of Inca mythology. Much like Pachamama would take responsibility over the prosperity of her people, Mapusaurus as an apex predator would be the balancing force that kept other species in check and thus maintained the health of her ecosystem.
